Art Asylum Enterprise-D Model

I got it online, and I already talked to the store that sold it to me. Basically I would be getting a new one and most likely be getting to keep this one, so ill have two. Maybe if someone can come up with decals I can name this one another name... lol

You can display the saucer and stardrive section separately with one, and a complete ship with the other. :techman:

Not sure if anyone realized this, but I've just found out that if the button on the stardrive section is pressed deeper, all the lights will remain on till u press the button again.

Interesting. Now tell me - how many lights do you see? :cardie:

This thread reminds me I have an Ertyl kit waiting for my motivation, as well as some mind-boggling detail work with some tiny brushes (the windows).
After doing some digging, I found a guy selling some very nice model lighting kits: 2"-4" floro tubes, and light paper with a bit of programming to get a pulsing nacelle effect.

I'll have to stop by a comic shop and see if they have one of these, it looks awesome! And I cannotwait until they release the Excelsior and Enterprise-B models. When did they say those were coming out?

A number of the windows are poorly painted, in fact -- they're painted right over the tubing; didn't even bothered having indented windows like the Playmates model (which I mixed light blue and white and painted all the windows so they looked like they were "on").

Aside from a powerful magnet, it looks like some productions values were dropped, also in the lighting department too. I hope future ships are done better than this. In fact, this one shoudl be recalled and issues fixed.

I stopped by a few comic book shops and they don't carry any of it.

Can someone point me in the direction of an AA Enterprise-A? Not Kahn-A but the AA Ent-A that has the silly "NCC - 1701 A" on the hull.

Silly? Whats Silly about it? :P

As for THAT version, I think they're pretty much sold out. The Khan version has a superior paint job (although that's disputed by some) and sound chip, so that seems to have become the go to version for collectors.

There are no different versions of the 1701-A. AA has only made one version. The TWOK Enterprise is not the A. It's the original ship, just with a refit. :vulcan:

I hope DST fixes the problems in the next batch...
or they could make it worst, like the ship spontaneously exploding due to the batteries!

Well, Its the same model, just repainted. I was talking in a real world (legasp!) context, not the fictional 200 years from now one. :vulcan:

Well, the only thing I can say to those that don't want this model is I'm enjoying the hell out of it and it looks great on display, I don't regret it.

I've been to 10 or 11 comic shops on the south side of Chi-town and western burbs and none of them have them nor will they order them.

Yes, I understand that.

I know. My point was that (in the real world), AA has only made one A, the one that actually says "NCC 1701-A" on it. Why call the other toy ships what they are not?

I can not believe how awesome this ship is. It really is the best that Art Asylum has offered yet. I'd love to see what they do with Voyager!!

The size, weight and overall look is awesome, as is the lighting of the nacelles and deflector, but I do have a couple of problems.

I'm a little peeved that they didn't paint the windows on the side of the secondary hull. I would've thought they'd recall them all and correct that error, but I can live with it. (if anyone has a good technique to put the windows on themselves, I'd love to try it).

My problem is, I've now had two of these ships over the last 3 days and they're both faulty! The first one had a HUGE plastic 'bubble' underneath the engineering section. It was melted on and had become a part of the ship, so I took it back to the store for a replacement. I got it home, checked it out and all looked well. It looked awesome, until I looked again and realised that the right side of the saucer section is totally warped (no pun intended). The two sides of the saucer wont even connect together. I can see the inner workings!

I'm returning it to the store again tomorrow to replace it (which is kinda embarassing), but I'm now worried about what will be wrong with the next one.

A GREAT model by Art Asylum, but these problems have dissapointed me. Anyone else suffered with a warped saucer section? (again, no pun intended..lol!)

The red stripe around the top phaser emiter ring on my All Good D is way off center on the port side but I am just sucking it up. Lol

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to let you know that it's possible to ink/paint in the windows on the neck of the ship. Time-consuming and terrifying*, but worth it I think:

I also painted many of the windows white, as well as other minor fixes (like over the saucer impulse engines so the light won't shine through them!

*I had no experience painting a model before, so I originally messed it all up and was going to trash the ship, but managed to salvage it nicely. The only things I'm picky about now are the arboretum windows (which I wanted to do up in light blue, though I guess black is okay) and how bright the escape hatches are (I was going to paint them dark grey but decided against it...).

No warped saucer, but mine has some paint issues on the saucer. Its as if someone dripped black paint on the saucer and then tried to clean it up. It did not work.

These things were made in China. You can definately tell that they had some serious QC issues...as has been the case with a lot of things made in China.

WOW!!! That really made a great improvement!!
Did you use decals for the neck, since it's the regular E-D?
