I Quit

Generally speaking, men will put up with a lot for sex, and women will put up with a lot for relationship.

Exactly, men will put up with a relationship for sex, and women will put up with sex for a relationship. ;) Works out fine in the end.

Anyone still smoking and not want to quit?

Yup. I enjoy smoking. It makes me happy. Also, I refuse to get fat. Cigarettes are much more enjoyable than exercise. So there's that.

I'm only about a half-pack a day type though, at least on work days, 'cause I don't smoke while I'm at work.

Anyone got a smoke I can bum?

Yup.

I quit smoking cigarettes eleven years ago. I quit smoking my pipe too, for eight years, until I was sure that I wouldn't go back on the cigarettes.

It was tough, especially quitting my pipe, which I enjoyed much more than cigarettes. But I did it eventually.

Now, I don't even like the smell of cigarette smoke. What the hell do they put in cigarettes--whatever they sweep up off the floor, after they're done making cigars and pipe tobacco? Blech.

FL, the basic message is that men have the "relationship" power and women have the "sexual" power. Not always true, but in general it is.

I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but there are a ton of women who are so sexually dead it's sad. I've run into so many women who are just flat boring in bed. Even if they actually like sex, you'd never know that by the way they act.

Don't worry, no cigs, but we can still smoke a bowl together :)

No that's not what he said...he said: "men will put up with a lot for sex, and women will put up with a lot for relationship."

Not that women will put up with sex for a relationship...we like sex too!!!
Women will put up with the rest of the bullshit just to be in a relationship. Needy broads.

This I believe...a lot of women are just sexually dead....but there are plenty that aren't! :D You've just run into the wrong ones. That's why it's so very important to make sure you're sexually compatible right at the beginning of a relationship. Right from the git.

Aside from various brief periods of abstinence lasting a few days to a few weeks, my smoking/non-smoking bio is something like:

1) Started smoking cigarettes in 1973. Smoked 30 to 40 cigarettes a day, on average, until April of 1979.

Today, July 23rd, is day 23. Blew my last fag on 6/30/09. I was about a 50 cig a day smoker, but it seems I have now quit.

I understand the need to constantly feed an addiction (believe me, I do), but how on earch can 1 person possibly find the time to smoke that many cigs in one day???

5) Smoked 40 to 60 cigarettes a day, on average, from February 1998 to May 1999.

Sweet Jesus.

That's about what my mother used to smoke. No kidding. She quit when she was pregnant with me...and even 38 years later, she still smokes in all of her dreams. She's still tempted when one of her friends lights up.

Good on you for quitting, ThankQ! Quitting cold turkey is tough, but sometimes it's the best way.

I don't smoke, never will, but if people want to smoke I have no problem with it...

That was a good night. ;)

Yeah, that does mean something entirely different in the U.S.! :guffaw:

I don't smoke either. My brother used to smoke several years ago. He quit when his second kid was born. Before then, he would go outside to light up. What really bothered me was when he would borrow my old car, before he got his, and he would light up in my car. I don't smoke so i found it rather disrespectful when he would smoke in my car.

You don't stop everything to smoke. That's one of the things that make it so hard. You smoke while you do everything.

Look at it this way. For 15 years, when you wake up, there's a beautiful man there to kiss you. Take your shower, then another beautiful man. Coffee? beautiful man. On the drive to work? Two beautiful men, one after the next. Then you work for a couple hours, go outside for your beautiful man. Then lunch, you'll probably be able to squeeze in 3-5 beautiful men. Another beautiful man afternoon break, then 2 beautiful men on the way home. Check your email? Light up a beautiful man! You can go through 4 beautiful men during a TV show. Shit! I gotta call mom! I'm going to have to do at least 5 beautiful men just to get through that conversation...

Anyway, you get the idea. 50 beautiful man every day for 15 years.

Then one day, no more beautiful men.

I don't smoke myself, but if I did, I'd want to have this attitude. :techman:

(I don't bother with the exercise either, but I do occasionally watch what I eat so as to keep my not-quite-svelte physique in suitably unhealthy shape...)

ThankQ - sounds like you really want to quit, so I wish you all the very best of luck! Stick with it.
