Bleach - Anime Disscussion (Spoilers)

Well, Urahara does it all the time, he's stuck in his, I believe, and Ishida doesn't need to leave his body to do Quincy things.

...but yeah, plot hole, watch your step.

It would be funny if a non spirit-energy aware person had been on the beach and seen all these floating swimsuits moving around on the beach.

Haven't had a chance to watch the last two episodes yet, but from what's been said about the Beach scenes...

Is it possible that characters can wield spirit items (Like Zanpaktuo) but normal everyday folk couldn't see them?

Basically, in gigai's they have the ability to use them, but no one can see them.

And in regards to Hitsugaya... would that be spirit Ice or regular ice anyways?

Hm, I kept thinking about this…

I am rewatching the Bount story with my daughter at the moment and I noticed that each time Renji wanted to fight with Ichigo he had to get out of his Gigai. Then he emerged in his Shinigami clothes with his Zanpaktuo.

Therefore I don`t think you can use a Zanpaktuo in a Gigai. But other Shinigami things are working also when not in a Gigai like Ichigo`s badge that also serves as a hollow alert. There is just a kind of spell on it that only people with spiritual energy can see or hear it.

I don`t think there is any hiding spell on spirit items used by a Quincy like Ishida`s energy bow.

I think Hitsugaya produced real ice also because otherwise Orihime wouldn`t be able to use it for ice lollies and her strange recipes.

Bleach 229

I have been wondering for a while what the third short story filler will be about and expected another annoying Kon story. I am very glad that I was wrong. Also this is a light, fun story I enjoyed very much.

Ikakku and Yumichika are two interesting friends who tend to make me laugh. It was nice to meet them again and I like the idea to revisit especially Ikkaku`s relationship with Keigo`s sister.

I agree with Ikkaku: Keigo`s sister can be infuriating but she really meant well. I think the plan to get her out of his hair (a figure of speech) and get some hair to achieve that was hilarious. I think Ikkaku looked good with that wig on! I was nearly laughing as hard as Ichigo! And that is some amazingly strong super glue!

I found it very interesting to see that not only Keigo but also his sister is now able to see hollows. When Ichigo and his friends come home this is another element that could become interesting in future.

The preview of the coming Zanpaktuo filler looked impressive! Hopefully the story will be as promising as my first impression but I am already amazed about the beautiful art. I am looking forward to next week.

No interest any more because the Zanpakutou story is a filler? I learned that Tite Kubo is heavily involved in this story and said that he regrets it that it won`t be in the Mangas.

Anyway, I am posting a review of the first episode but won`t continue this thread any more if there is no interest.

***

As soon as the episode started I already got curious about the spirit forms of the Zanpakutou. I could see from the beginning that the writers put a lot of effort into it to reflect the personalities of the owner of the Zanpakutou in question but also the powers they have. Although I still have trouble to remember some of the names I recognize a lot of these characters just from their looks and behaviour.

I am looking forward to get to know these Zanpakutou spirits better and I am sure it won`t be long and I will be familiar with all these new names. Two became instant favourites with my daughter. She loves the spirit of Soi Fon`s Zanpakutou, Suzumebachi because she reminds her so much of Tinkerbell. Another favourite of hers is Rukia`s Sode no Shirayuki because she thinks she is so beautiful. I also think they are among the most memorable but the one that left the biggest impression on me from early on is Hisagi`s Kazeshini.

The episode started with a lot of scenes I welcomed. It has been such a long time since I have seen Old Man Zangetsu and therefore I think this story must be a flashback to the time frame of a much earlier Bleach just before or around the early Arrancar chapters. And it was great to see Renji and Byakuya doing Bankai training together! They have come a long way since Byakuya ordered to throw a badly hurt Renji into a prison cell to die. I welcome this a lot and it was exciting to watch.

This start of the latest long filler is very promising. The artwork is stunning but what I am mainly hoping for is that this filler story will also have some depth. I like exciting fights, too but there is so much room here for character development and exploration. I also want to be able to understand both sides of the fence: What reasons have the Zanpakuto spirits to rebel and follow Muramasa. Of course some Zanpakutou spirits have been treated very badly. I have always felt sorry for Kenpachi`s. That spirit is always in a released form but trapped and unable to communicate. If Muramasa is from Kenpachi`s Zanpaktuou I understand why he finally rebelled but there are so many who follow him. Muramasa said that the Zanpaktuou spirits have been freed from being imprisoned by the Shinigami. I can imagine that there is some truth in that but this is not the whole story. At least some Zanpaktuou spirits seemed to have a good relationship with their owner. I hope we will get some answers very soon.

Muramasa and the Zanpakutou spirits are deadly serious. I found the start of the rebellion chilling to watch and later it got even worse when at least some of them slaughtered a lot of people. I wonder what happened to Yamamoto. Whatever happened, it surprised him completely and nearly killed Sasakibe, his second in command.

If the Shinigami without Zanpakutou spirits can still use their Kido skills remains to be seen but my guess is that this is very likely. I am also very curious what part the characters will play who have powers without having Zanpakutous like Ishida, Chad and the two kids living with Urahara.

230 Random Thoughts:

Wow...I must say I'm impressed. It seems this will be another highly interesting diversionary arc. As far as Bleach filler goes when it's individual episodes it's not so hot, but when they actually put some writing effort into it like the Bount arc, Runaway Princess arc, and this new Zampakuto Rebellion arc it actually makes for some good entertainment.

I have to say they done an excellent job of hooking me thus far with this new story. It was interesting to see the materialized forms of the Soul Reaper's Zampakuto. Seems everyone is quite a fix. I wonder how they'll deal with it.

I laughed how they just convienently wrote Kanpachi out since he could never release his or even know it's name. So they made him off wandering somewhere looking for a fight. Or maybe they didn't though, and it's Kenpachi to the rescue? :D

All those estra things at the end of chapters featuring the characters Zampakuto and and their abilities makes is more useful now at least.

I liked the three short stories too. It was harmless, humorous fluff but at least it was really funny this time!

It is probably too early to say but even after this first episode I think this will be the best of the long fillers. The start was great! Keep it up, people! :D

I see the Bount story with mixed feelings. It definitely has the worst art of all Bleach stories. The writing is very mixed. There is a lot I enjoyed but also a lot I wasn`t happy with. The Runaway Princess was much better. I enjoyed the story a lot until the writers obviously didn`t want Ichigo`s human friends around any more and turned the story into Bleach featuring Ichigo and the Soul Reapers. At that point the story became predictable and the end of the captain could have come from a cheap cliché book.

Hopefully the Zanpakuto rebellion arc will continue on this quality level. I have seen a short preview and one scene showed the mod souls from the Bount story. I must admit, I wasn`t happy about that. They often got on my nerves and my guess is that Kon will be in it, too who is definitely my least favourite character of the series. But I know that Kon also has his fans and it seems that there is also a lot going on in the next episode I will find interesting.

Kenpachi to the rescue? I like that idea! That would be fun. :)

Of course, Shinigami don't imprison their Zanpakuto spirits in swords, the Zanpakuto spirit is a piece of he Shinigami's soul that manifests itself in a sword.

Like the opening naration said; a Shinigami dies, the Zanpakuto dies; obvious, because they are ultimately one and the same. So, if the Zanpakuto are killing Shinigami, they're killing their own, and ultimate would be committing suicide.

Not to mention that if the Shinigami doesn't have a good relationship with his zanpakuto, if it never gives the Shinigami its name, they can't release it. Similarly with the full release.

So this whole "rebellion putely by the Zanpakuto themselves" stinks to high heaven. There's got to be something more to it.

Yes, that's also occured to me as well. There's definitely something else going on other than what little explanation was given. That's why it's interesting.

Bleach 231

I liked the start of this new episode a lot. I smiled when Ichigo caught Rukia and faced Sode no Shirayuki. It was interesting to see that this Zanpakuto spirit used Hitsugaya`s ice mirror trick. I am hoping to discover more abilites these Zanpakuto spirits have. These spirits ARE the powers the Shinigami used. Therefore they should not only be able to use what the Shinigami in question has discovered and achieved but the full range. That means also Bankais individual Shinigami never achieved could finally be revealed. That also means abilities certain Shinigami would prefer to be kept secret won`t be for much longer.

Kon is annoying enough. I think it was not necessary to also put the mod souls from the Bount story into this filler. All right, if these characters stay in Urahara`s shop and are not accompanying Ichigo`s friends on missions it won`t be too bad.

Otherwise I enjoyed it very much to see Ichigo and all his friends (minus Renji, of course) at Urahara`s. I also welcomed it that Yoruichi was part of that gathering later. Watching that discussion was interesting.

I think it was a good idea to place the flashbacks inbetween these discussions because I can see that although there are things that need to be said too much at once would be boring to too many people.

At least there is confirmation that Yamamoto is still alive and that he and his Zanpakuto spirit are held prisoner. It is interesting that not all Zanpakuto spirits are prepared to join the rebellion and I am very curious who else is refusing to do so. Of course it was Ikkaku the hothead who attacked the spirits first and prompted others to join this futile and unwise attack but I think the Zanpakuto spirits would have started soon to teach the Shinigami a lesson anyway.

It affected me to see the scale of the destruction and the slaughter of mainly low ranking Shinigami who had no chance to defend themselves. I felt with Rukia and Renji who fought bravely. It was interesting to see that I was right: The Shinigami still have their kido powers. Even when I learned the title of this episode I assumed that Byakuya will save his sister again and fight for her. The battle between Byakuya and Senbonzakura was impressive to watch. I can understand that Rukia is worried about her brother but I would have thought she would also wonder what became of Renji after they got separated.

One of the next titles is “Zangetsu becomes an enemy” and I think Urahara`s Benihime will also play a part in this rebellion. That Ichigo was in a hurry to go after Rukia doesn`t surprise me. At least Yoruichi was going with him. Nevertheless, I was very disappointed that Ishida, Chad and Orihime didn`t go with him as well. Hopefully they will follow in the next episode.

Pretty good, but mostly just more setup. I was hoping this arc would take place in Karakura instead so we could see Urahara do something, but looks like we're off to SS again.

As for Zangetsu, you don't want want to even be on the same planet if he rebels. :)

My hope is that this story will take place in Karakura and the Soul Society. I missed Urahara`s place, Ichigo`s quirky family and the school environment. It would be nice to see this explored again also because when the filler ends we won`t see any of this for a very long time.

My guess is the Zangetsu rebellion will play a big part in this arc. I am curious if this will already be a preparation for something that will happen in the future (and something I better don`t spoil). This is the part I am mainly curious about.

Darn, looked like Rukia was about to succeed in taming the ice queen but then Freddy Kruger had to show up. Ichigo's gonna be out of luck in the next one, since he can't perform Kido.

:) That is a funny comparison!

Don`t be so sure that Ichigo will be out of luck. Have a close look at the preview at the end of the episode - later on Ichigo is showing half of his hollow mask.

Even without kido powers and with Zangetsu rebelling, Ichigo obviously doesn`t lose the hollow side of his powers.

My review of 232

The start was lovely and made me laugh. It was nice to see Renji smile like that and it was cute when he ruffled Rukia`s hair affectionately something I also do sometimes with my young daughter. I wonder what happened to Byakuya, too but I am confident that he isn`t dead and will probably reappear when we least expect it.

The confrontation between Rukia and the spirit of her Zanpakuto, Sode no Shirayuki was very well written and touched me a lot. I could see again that Sode no Shirayuki uses her powers more effectively than Rukia ever did, something I also found very interesting. Nevertheless, I could see again that Shinigami still have their kido powers and also Rukia was far from helpless.

But what I mainly liked was the description of Rukia`s point of view. I loved the flashback when Rukia discovered the powers of her Zanpakuto, the wonder and joy she felt. And I laughed when Kaien ruffled her hair, the same as Renji did. Rukia is certainly one of the Shinigami who treated her Zanpakuto well and felt she had a special and precious bond with it. I understand Rukia`s pain that Sode no Shirayuki is hating her now. I don`t understand the “why” behind the rebellion either but I am sure, we will learn more bit by bit.

I wasn`t sure if I should be amused or starting to get fed up with it that Ichigo was coming to the rescue – again, not to mention in spite of the risks that also his Zanpakuto spirit might rebel eventually. On the other hand Sode no Shirayuki showed how dangerous and powerful she can be when she froze Ichigo`s sword arm. I liked it very much when it was Rukia this time helping Ichigo and drawing her attention away from him.

It showed the deep respect Rukia has for Sode no Shirayuki that she is willing to set her free no matter what the consequences would be for her but that she can`t let her take away everything she is supposed to protect. It was a powerful gesture when Rukia actually let her go and the deep impact it made on her former Zanpakuto spirit.

If Muramasa wouldn`t have interfered maybe she would even have been prepared to return to Rukia at this point. At the very least I would like to think that she doesn`t hate Rukia any more and could one day help to bring both sides together to find a solution. That Muramasa is a Zanpakuto was obvious but nevertheless, it needed to be spelled out.

The artwork was beautiful again and I enjoyed this story very much. If the makers of this Anime can keep this up, I am even hoping that this filler will go on for quite a while.

I missed the mask on him, makes lots of sense though.

For more amusement, this song, was playing in my head as the soundtrack for the episode which is where the inspiration for one of the references came from.

Thank you for the link! I loved the song. The female singer looked a bit like Sode no Shirayuki and the music would fit very well as the soundtrack for that episode. :)

Yeah, I like a lot Within Temptation's songs, myself and am generally just a large fan of that kind of music. I think it's called, symphonic metal, basically rock or metal blended with symphony instruments. If you like their sound you may want to check out some of their albums if you can get a hold of them. I'd recommend "The Heart of Everything" and "Silent Force" as the best ones. That particular song is on "Mother Earth".

Anyhow, sorry, got a little off topic there. :)
