Karl Urban -- blond or brunet?

Re: Karl Urban -- blond or brunette?

Hello! First post on the board, and i just wanted to say thanks for two lovely days spent reading every single post in this thread and also the "Who's your daddy?" poll thread. Needless to say, new Bones is my daddy!

I had never seen Karl before the ST movie, but I've had a crush on Dr. McCoy since I was a little girl watching the first-run eps of TOS on NBC in the mid-60s. Although, like many of you, I felt a little weird all these years crushing on someone old enough to be my dad. But I just saw the movie for the 6th time this weekend (and I'm pretty sure my husband's going to stage an intervention before too much longer), and I have fallen in love with the movie and also with Dr. McCoy all over again. Karl's version of the character is not only spot-on, but it's hot, hot, hot--all the McCoy, with none of the guilt!

I look forward to spending lots of time in this thread, and BTW, I also come bearing a sort-of gift: For those who have never seen it (which includes me), I just saw this morning that they're going to be showing The Bourne Supremacy on NBC Sunday night, July 5th, at 9 p.m. I've never watched a Bourne movie, but I'm definitely going to watch this one now.

P.S. And to answer this thread's question, definitely brunet. Plus I like him older, with a little more mileage on him (scruffy McCoy is my favorite part of the movie) and I LOVE the way the man wears a suit--rawr!
Welcome!

Re: Karl Urban -- blond or brunette?

Dreams of the Raven was another good McCoy novel. McCoy is injured and suffers amnesia and questions why he would have ever chosen to join Starfleet.

Welcome Mrs_Whatsit!

I so understand that whole left over "guilting cause I'm teenybopping lusting over a man older than my father" thing. I had the same problem at 12, during the early reruns. How can you sit around and squee with your little friends over that? They're obsessing over the Bay City Rollers and Donny Osmond (or god forbid, one of the Brady Bunch boys) and you're thinking about Dr. McCoy explaining "things" to you. With a demonstration. You're not quite sure what that entails, but you know it would be a hell of a lot more interesting than winning a date from Teen Beat.

I would say that age appropriate lust is a wonderful thing, but frankly lust is a great thing. Personally I'm hoping there is a whole herd of 12 year olds out there who are developing McCoy and Pike lust habits. Good taste should be cultivated from an early age.

I'm so glad we're not alone! :D

Re: Karl Urban -- blond or brunette?

Oh! Thanks CD. I love the first one. :D He looks like he is about to get into some trouble or something.

And welcome to the new folks!

Re: Karl Urban -- blond or brunette?

I was rewatching clips last night, and when I heard him speak in his real accent, it sounds so unusual!

He's just spotted Crusher Disciple in the crowd!

Post me your best photos of the good doctor please, I've wrenched my back and I'm in agony. Slightly less agony than before I took some of the nice tablets the doctor just gave me, but I could do with some distration ;)

Re: Karl Urban -- blond or brunette?

Hope that you feel better soon, trampledamage. I think that looking at some wonderful pictures of Karl is the medicine for getting well. :)

Thanks for the new pictures..and I voted on "Who's your Daddy?" poll. Of course I voted for McCoy (and he's in the lead!!). I'll look at my local bookstore for the books that have been recommend.

Hello, everyone. My UN is Toruika, and I'm a nuMcCoy fangirl.

So, what are the twelve steps to this program, anyway?

(And darnit! If I had known I had to wait two weeks to use an avatar, I wouldn't have guest-lurked the last few days..!)

37 pages, wow. I'm still in the middle of reading this particular thread. At least I have something to keep me busy whilst waiting to use the avatar pic I made. :sigh:

Can't wait to see your avatar, Toruika! Ths thread will definitely help you pass the time.

As for the 12 steps, I only know the first two: see the movie, admire McCoy.

I've been working very hard on those two.

Oh, well, I've only made three trips for the movie, but if I hope really hard, maybe it'll hit the dollar show before I move overseas (and have to wait for the DVD... ;o; )

Admiring McCoy is a hobby of mine. I even have a marysue fanfic in my head from time to time. (For shame!) Or is that one of the latter steps?

The avatar is from one of the pictures on the link below... Hint: I named the picture siddown.jpg :p

Don't worry- we've got you covered in pics and avs.

And welcome!
Thanks!!

And whew! That's good to know! Yeah, I -think- I went through all the posts. I actually might POSSIBLY have something to contribute, odd though it may be. Let me get out my e-shovel and dig a bit...

Some nice screencaps of McCoy from ST2009:

Oh... And this. I wonder how much it will cost to ship to Japan.

I'll probably get the dolls, too. But after I move.
