TrekBBS TNG One Word Story

Is anything in this thread salvageable? These stories become illogical by page two. Or one.

Ummm..I thought the TNG one went on pretty good. Peaked a little while back, but nearly 700 posts is pretty good; I think. Just a guilty pleasure for some of us...and its fun.

Personally, I've found very few of the "sentences" in this story to be salvageable. As an English major, it's been especially horrific.

I don't mean to insult anyone here, of course... I think people did the best they could, but I believe the inevitable slide into incomprehensibility is a flaw inherent to the "one word story" format. Myself, I think it would be best to stick with a "five words at a time story" in the future. Maybe ten words... something along those lines. As long as it's more than one or two.

Actually..when read..the story comes off like a crazy dream that makes no since..THATS what was so fun about it. Once you start allowing more words, the story becomes tangible..and suffers for it..IMO..

Fair enough... I can certainly see how it would appeal to someone in a zany way like that. I personally think too much nonsense gets tiresome pretty quickly, but to each his own.

You have to learn balance, Daneel. As Einstein said--Imagination is more important than knowledge. Loosen up. Enjoy.

Hey, I'm as loose as a goose... or something. ;) Believe me, I can appreciate the one-word story thing (to a point), and I can definitely appreciate the fact that others love it for precisely the same reasons that I think it gets old quickly (i.e. the story turning into madcap nonsense). I think there are always plenty of opportunities to be creative, in any format. I just personally prefer other kinds of this online storytelling-in-the-round... where there's more consistency and the humour makes more sense.

But as I said, that's me... and to each their own.

Fair enough. Sorry I questioned your looseness.

Back to the story, dammit!

Entire timelines and fleets of ships depend on what we write NEXT!
