Captain
With Star trek again being very popular, do you think TPTB might do it as a series .Dont think we have a chance with this new crew(shame:confused:) ,would love to see TOS done again on the small screen. But if i can't have this crew on tv , would love to see a series based on the uss kelvin leading up to nero, or maybe in the prime time instead.Love to see how kirk's parents and captain Robau do things on a starfleet ship.

I, too, would love to see a new series, but not set on a doomed ship. It was bad enough that Voyager was on a lost ship, but the only reason to go back to a ship where you know how everyone dies, is to give more backstory to another story involving characters on another ship in another time (who would be the regular cast).

Why not? Can't this Robau show have a beginning a middle and well I guess we all know how it ends...but it can be a contained story with a limited run/life. Say it's set back 10 years from the end events...I think that's sufficient.

I do have fantasies about them re-doing TOS with them all CGI'd ....we could even have new stories too if they did it in this fashion. I know it's not gonna happen...hence this residing in the fantasy file...which I'm realizing this file is getting quite large and it certainly doesn't contain stuff just about TOS wink wink. LOL

Just dont want to wait every 2 yrs for a movie, maybe time to fill in the gaps between kirk and picard prime time or not.As for a kelvin based show it could be form the prime time point of view .Sure then now have plenty of scope to pick a timeline .

Its too bad they dont just use all the same people and start doing a series now. A weekly series with this cast and concept would be mega rad...

Bery, Bery interesting this idea of yours.......now prime time...do you mean it should be on in prime time or are you talking about the timeline? :p

I like the idea about going 10 years back and picking up JT's dad, maybe before he meets JT's mom, which could happen at the end of season 1. This gives the backstory on JT's family through his dad's life. The only problem would be is that every series had a Vulcan-like character (except DS9), which heightened the "Spock" intrigue of TOS to all other series, and I don't think there is any possible way for JT's dad to have a Vulcan as a friend/crew member/compatriot in a 10 years before JT's birth storyline.

I wouldn't mind seeing a computer animated type show like Clone Wars. That could be a new and exciting direction with unique possibilities.

I agree that a show on the Kelvin would be a bad idea. As already pointed out, to know that "in just a few years the ship is destroyed with Robau and George Kirk ending up DEAD along with who knows how many others" is a turn off.

I really WOULD like to see a nu-TOS era series, with Kirk and Spock, but doubt that'll happen until it's decided the current Kirk/Spock movies are done.

Too bad...

I really don't want to see any new Trek if they're not in it, and I don't care who plays them so long as it's done well.

Could do a mini series for 2 seasons then a movie , then a mini series 2seasons agian then wrap up with there 3rd movie.

A tv series with kirk, spock etc.. would have to have most of the principles re-cast. I don't see CBS doing anything with a series anytime soone

New crew? Isn't it the original crew, just different actors? :p

Not going to happen. No way the actors are going to go from big-budget feature films to do a weekly TV series. And TPTB would be insane if they started a new "spin-off" series about yet another ship, captain, and crew that no one but the three dozen or so super-hardcore Trek nerds care about.

IMO, a new series has to be another Kirk/Spock reboot, or it's doomed to failure. The general public has had its fill of fake Trek. From here on out it's real Trek or nothing. Captain Kirk, not Captain Geraldine Johnson of the Federation warship U.S.S. Beauregard. No one cares.

Sadly I gotta agree that it's not going to happen, despite how much I wish it would! The actors have clawed their way to the big screen and they're not going to go back to a TV series no matter how prodigious, as a new trek would be.
I agree on the second point also, I think Kirk/Spock is the only way to go. Everything in between has paled in comparison to that duo (or trio, with McCoy :) )
Ah well, hopefully within our lifetimes eh?
