Where's R2-D2? (R2D2 in Star Trek?)

It could also be that the Noia phone is part of the decoration of the Corvette, and is either an Antique, or meant to match the 20th/21st Century period of the Corvette.

A possibility I never thought of, and actually kind of logical if you consider the whole retro thing. Maybe by the 2240s old antique cars are equipped with this kind of equipment.

It could also be that Kirk's stepfather's last name was Nokia, Bob Nokia, so the phone just said who was calling :D

But wouldn't that be like having a cassette deck in a model T

Maybe. But some people and collectors have weird tastes. I've seen a CD deck in an AMC Pacer.

The answer is apparently online on facebook somewhere in the notes section... But I can't find it :s

Edit: found it

R2-D2 LOCATION ANSWER (**SPOILER ALERT**)

During the Drill Machine sequence as the Enterprise comes out of its barrel role amidst destruction of the other Federation ships above Vulcan, we cut to an interior Enterprise bridge over the shoulder of Kirk that is looking out through the front viewscreen. In space, R2-D2 is floating in the debris from about the top middle of the screen to the bottom right.

And I have a friend with a CD changer and satellite radio in their '74 VW Bug. Maybe Crutchfield is still around, making aftermarket kits for antique cars?

You haven't lived until you've seen an iPod hooked up to the handlebars of an old 1980s moped.

Don't ask. People in my town can be odd.

I thought I saw him today when I was watching it. When Enterprise jumps out of warp and you see the scene of the Enterprise rotating you can see R2 in the debris field. It's the wide shot where they're above Vulcan.

Re: Mystery solved...

Is it just me or does that look like it could be anything? ...guess we'll have to wait for the Blu-Ray screencaps.

Re: Mystery solved...

Ladies and Germans, someone was actually nerdy enough to find R2-D2 in the STXI.

And yet, people will bitch about this... OMG! They mixed Star Trek with Star Wars! They violated the unwritten rules of nerddom!
Yeah, we know. There was a contest.

Collecting an AMX or a Rebel I understand but, a Pacer? WTF? :wtf:

Maybe Gaila escaped in an R2-D2 suit.

It would be a shame to see yet another of Kirk's love interests getting whacked...

Yep. A Pacer.

A local car collector who has wide-ranging tastes in what he restores and drives. And he put a deck in his old Pacer after refurbishing it.

I have a wide-ranging taste in classic cars too but, a Pacer? The car nicknamed the 'Pregnant Rollerskate'? That's just sad...
