Where's R2-D2? (R2D2 in Star Trek?)

THAT'LL teach Artoo about going outside on the hulls of ships to do repairs...during battle.;)

Re: R2D2 in Star Trek?

Maybe it's in amongst the floating rubble that the Enterprise flies into when they get to Vulcan?

Good theory. Just like the heavy air traffic over Coruscant in EPISODE I helped hide where Lucas and ILM slipped in the Enterprise for her cameo.

Dude, I swear I've been drinking my brain away during my college years. Not once have I noticed the Enterprise in Episode I. Gah.

It's the start of the scene when Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, little Anakin and Queen Amidala are leaving Coruscant to go back to Naboo and challenge/end the Trade Federation occupation. It's at nighttime, and as the camera swoops over the CGI landing platform hovering high above the skyscrapers the Enterprise briefly zooms by in the air traffic below.

Anyone have a picture of that? :vulcan:

I dont...but someone had a screencapture once that they posted in an old thread.

Oh, she's there...and it's the TMP/movie-design Enterprise, not the classic TOS design. But she flies by so quickly you need a good freeze frame thumb with your remote to spot her.

GAH! I know the scene! I have yet to notice the shot!

Frustrating..... I'll get there next time.

Looks like a Star Wars fan bit it out there.

I don't know why they'd bring their life sized Artoo replica with them though.

Just posting a screenshot from the Blu-Ray version of the movie for those who havn't found R2-D2 yet.

Excuse the external link but the picture is larger than quite large.

It's supposedly confirmed it's there by some, while others say it's just a ship (or ships) that looks something like the Entperprise, or even Voyager.
It's not as open and shut as the Millenium Falcon's cameo in the Borg battle in FC.

There are quite a few transports which appear to have saucer-section look-alike parts attached in that scene -I've only done it frame-by-frame once, but I didn't see anything that more than resembles a Starfleet craft from afar... :(

Apparently, though, someone at ILM and connected to Lucas admitted around the time the Episode I DVD first came out in 2001 that it was the movie-era Enterprise that was inserted into the scene. Never had any concrete confirmation of that admission, but a lot of people around that time said it happened and Lucasfilm fessed up to putting the ship in there.

Oh, but it's not that I doubt it being there! -I just find it difficult to find in that particular scene -especially with all the other saucer-shaped thingies buzzing around...

I gotta confirm that next time I watch Ep I.

This is coming from someone who watched that film 9 times at the cinema back in 1999. I was 16, and my bf payed for it every time. *sigh*

I DO recall that one of the issues of STAR WARS INSIDER(the official fan magazine)had a picture from the Coruscant skyshot showing and circling/highlighting which of the passing ships was the Enterprise. The issue, I believe, came out in 2000 or 2001 after the first series of rumors about the Enterprise's presence started getting circulated inside the SW and TREK fan communities.

Don't quote that as science, though. I just remember the picture showing the Enterprise was in *a* issue of the fan magazine around the time the first prequel was about to come out on DVD. I guess anyone who has old copies of the INSIDER from that time can go looking for it in the Q&A sections.
