Transmorphers: Fall of Man -- the trailer is finally here!!!

^ They don't exactly need outside help when it comes to ripping off and riding the coattails of the big studio movies. As much as everyone here is laughing at Mega Shark, that's about as original as The Asylum can get!

It doesn't matter if it's a cheapo Asylum knock-off or the biggest-budget studio film of the year... I hate that goddamned 'Tiny clip... fade to black. Tiny clip... fade to black. Tiny clip... fade to black. Pause. CUT CUT CUT CUT CUTCUTCUTCUTCUT! Black" style of trailer-making that infests cinemas today. Everyone does it (the latest I saw was the GI Joe trailer just last night), and it pisses me off. Do something different!

Everytime someone demands originality from Hollywood, a studio executive's kitten dies.

Sad thing is, Transmorphers was vastly superior to Transformers.... So I don't see how this will be any different.

I would like to point something out to the Bay Transformers bashers

Um unless Bay uses

- Fatass Galvatron

- space bunnies

- Optimus Prime the self-sacrificing even when the plot device that can fix the situation WITHOUT his dying is in the same room RIGHT FRAKKIN NEXT TO HIM! leader

- Optimus Prime being resurrected by the power of Kissing

- Galvatron dying by the power of holding hands in a circle.

- Megatron etting a new paint job then calling himself Galvatron WITHOUT any kind of noticable upgrade

- Super deformed Beast Wars characters

- Megatron turning to Galvatron then going back to Megatron then going back to Galvatron then going back to Megatron then going back to Galvatron

- Pokemonlike robot minions

I would give him some slack.

And what are there, like five people in the entire movie?!

Are you not familiar with The Asylum? They can't exactly afford much for their 10-day shoots.

The sad thing is their budgets are large enough to make Sundance-type character-driven movies. Instead, they try to buy $75 million worth of special effects for $500,000.

I doubt it's sad for them: these crappy movies seem to make them money, while crappy character driven "Sundance type" movies they'd make would like NOT make them any money.

True; every year, we hear about "the breakout hit at Sundance!"... and that's all. The 499 other 'twentysomething angst with oh-so-smartass dialogue' movies at Sundance vanish without a trace.

I love these guys. Now that Trek is suddenly successful, maybe they'll do their version of it just before the sequel is released.

Although I suppose Hustler has beaten them to it.

So, this is a sequel to Transmorphers? LOL!!

If it warranted a sequel, maybe I'll go buy that 4.99 copy of the first one down at Movie gallery.

I saw parts of Transmorphers on cable, and it was more of a Terminator/Matrix (future war) rip-off than a transformers rip-off.

^ Originally it wasn't one of their "The DaVinci Treasure" or "Snakes on a Train" deliberate ripoffs. It was more along the lines of their "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus" high-class movies. Once Transformers came out, they changed the name to ride the coattails. But this prequel is an obvious cash-in. They even managed to get "Fall" into the title.

IIRC the writer and/or director of "Transmorphers" was pretty TO'd that the studio made the name "Transmorphers" to ride those coat-tails.

I've always wondered what this logic behind the studios that make these subtle rip-offs.

Do they really think somone is going to walk down some obscure aisle in their video store, encounter "Transmorphers" and think it's that neat movie they saw a trailer for last week in "Land of the Lost" that has Megan Fox and Shia LeButtfuck in it? "Wow! I thought it was coming out in theaters in late June! But here it is in [video store that carries obscure titles]!"

^ That is exactly what happens. There are people stupid enough to think the big studio movie with big name actors that's currently in theaters is the same thing that's sitting at Hollywood Video with Lance Henriksen's name at the top.

Then you also take not-very-media-savvy family members into account when they see "Transmorphers" and think that's what their grandkid has been raving about, so they buy it for him.

The story of The Asylum is that when Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" came out, their C. Thomas Howell "War of the Worlds" did extremely well, so they changed their entire business plan to do "mockbusters."

Such stupidity shouldn't be allowed to exsist.

I just went onto The Asylum site, where they translated an article about them from Hebrew into English. They even translated the user comments and The Asylum actually pointed out how "Israel is united with the rest of the world... in hatred of The Asylum."

Anyway, here's one small segment of the article about an Israeli actor who signed up for an American movie... only to discover what he was really in for:

The company success led to its expansion into other markets. Today, along these films, they also produce films for the Sci-Fi channel, as well as for the Christian-religious market. One of which, “Countdown: Jerusalem”, an apocalyptic film loaded with religious symbolism, was shot here in Israel. “It was last October, just before the chaos in Gaza began”, tells Latt. “In retrospect it was somewhat scary, but the experience was quite amazing, and this film in my opinion is one of our best ever”.

“That was a crazy experience” tells Israeli actor Yair Lehman, who was part of the shoot. “I showed up to take part in an American film and found myself in the middle of a pretty campy production that seems like student film at best. It was a Christian-apocalyptic film which an over-the-top plot”

“I played an Israeli with an Arabic name, “Hanifa”. I found out only hours before the shoot, when given the script. I asked what’s the deal with the name and they responded: ‘what do you mean? It’s an Israeli name.’ I told them that this is an extremely rare name, but they have already shot a sequence in LA, where the character name was mentioned, and it was literally impossible to change.”

“I got a copy of the film and it was hilarious. There’s a scene where you’re supposed to see the road from the airport to Jerusalem, but it was pretty obvious it was shot in the Palestinian territories, featuring soldiers and barricades in every corner, giving you the idea Jerusalem is some sort of a refugee camp. At the end of the day I’d be more than happy to work with them again, only next time I hope they’ll take me to Hollywood.”

Supposedly, they did have a Trek rip-off lined up, but it mysteriously was taken off their schedule. If this is true, I suspect Paramount legal department came a knocking.

I worked at Blockbuster video during the summer when Transformers came out.

Sure enough, there was a little kid and I believe his parent asking if Transformers was out to rent yet. I asked if they meant the cartoon, but the kid was referring to the live action movie. I explained it was still in theaters and won't be on DVD for a while.

My point is that there are people out there that don't realize that a movie in theaters means it is not in the video store.

The Asylum smartly/cunningly/evilly (take your pick) takes advantage of that.

An angel is killed every time someone buys a movie made by The Asylum. :(

So, uh, where do angels go when they die?

To Angel heaven. Duh! :p
