Tom Hanks plugging Star Trek again...

Great clip! Thanks for posting the link.
I officially dub his "Let's talk about ST" reaction when getting a compliment about his own new film a classic now!

Maybe he could play Q!

I love that idea!!

except John DeLancie is so very recognized and loved in that role... I dunno... we might get a substantial number of haters chiming in.

I want him in the sequel though. think he might actually be angling for a role? he was adorable with Conan last night. he needs to be on TrekBBS! :p

I love hearing Tom Hanks talk about how much of a huge Star Trek fan he is!

One thing though, Tom... it's City on the Edge of FOREVER. ;)

I feel for him though, I made that exact same mistake once.

The fact that he can shout out that number of TOS episodes is bona fide i my book, yeah.

Yeah I think we've all made mistakes like this.....but that is so cool he's promoting the Trek !!

He looks so good in maroon! It helps offset that pasty completion.

Hanks also mentioned Star Trek in his Angels & Demons interview with Letterman last month.

He was talking about some place being cold. He said, “It was ice planet Hoth cold. You know, Hoth, where Captain Kirk goes to find Spock.”

Tom Hanks is one of the few actos whom I have emmense respect for. He's very talented and funny, and him being a Trekkie has hardly been a secret for several years. ;) I've known he was a Trekkie for a long-time now and would LOVE to see him in a Trek movie, but only as a "good" character.

They should have Hanks and Peter Solari play Nurse Chappell and Carol Marcus in the next movie.

Jason

In the next movie, the alternate universe NCC-1701-D will come back in time...

PICARD: Liam Neeson
RIKER: Tom Hanks
DATA: Kevin Spacey
LAFORGE: Jamie Foxx
WORF: Dennis Haysbert
CRUSHER: Julianne Moore
TROI: Monica Bellucci
WESLEY: Shia LaBeouf

Thanks for the clip! I too, would love to see Tom Hanks in the next movie. I'd love to see Hanks describing JJ in the same way he was describing Opie directing.

Wait a sec, did I read a post on page 1 of this thread correctly, Tom Hanks was supposed to be Zephram Cochrane in FC? Wow that woulda been pretty awesome.

Tom Hanks as Commodore Decker?

Then Spock Prime will go up to his little son Will, kick him in the nuts and say "That's for The Motion Picture!" Then he'll kick him in the nuts again and say, "That's for Seventh Heaven!"

I'd be afraid that Hanks' presence in a Trek movie would overwhelm everything else. Or, he'd be underutilized. Neither of those would be good for the movie. Maybe a cameo. That would be enough.

Unless he plays Commodore Matt Decker. Doomsday Machine is still out there.

William Windom's shoes are impossible to fill except by someone of Hanks' stature.

Tom Hanks would make a really good Trelaine.

I could also see him as the Romulan Commander in a Balance of Terror remake. Of course if he wants to don the garb of a warrior, he would make an interesting Koloth ;-)

How about as Gary Mitchell? No one said in this timeline Gary can't be older.

It would never happen but I would love to see Edward James Olmos portray Decker, I think that would fill Windom's shoes.

You have to wonder if Ron Howard is calling him after all these and saying: "You do know you're promoting Angels & Demons and that Star Trek is already KILLING us in the box office, right?"
