Does plastic surgery distract you?

I haven't watched CSI in a few years, this evening I catch an episode and Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) face is now so plastic looking that I could not concentrate on the show itself - her expressionless plastic looking face was creepier than the murder stories.

Have you been distracted from a show or series by the bad plastic surgery or botox of one of the actors?

Over used plastic surgery is a big distraction for me too.

I've been watching desperate housewives (I know..I have no shame) recently and the actress who plays Lynette has clearly had a lot of work. It be came absurd during a story line where she was trying to convince her husband that surgery was wrong.

The most distracting for me was Perry's wife in Scrubs. I suppose it was believable for the character but it was also like she had been stung by a lot of bees.

I have seen a couple of eps of CSI Miami and there is a women with blond hair who has over done it with box tox.
One of the actors turned to her and said whats wrong you look surprise.
Its a good job they added that line because her face had not moved a muscle.

I'm always distracted by Nicolas Cage's hair.

To a point, it can distract me, especially on women I didn't find attractive to begin with.

Men, I tend to notice it when it starts to get into Mickey Rourke territory.

Yeah, and it's such a shame - Christa Miller was so damn cute pre-surgery, if she'd only allowed herself to, y'know, age gracefully, I'm sure she'd still be a beautiful woman. She's not exactly ugly now, but she's definitely had way too much work done.

It distracts me particularly in some older men/women who go way off the ranch with it. Exhibit A: Mary Tyler Moore

Wow, so that was real? I just assumed it was makeup they put on to simulate that look.

Yikes.

For me the problem isn't so much plastic surgery, but now that I finally got a HDTV, I can totally see all that makeup that gets lathered on (especially for things like talk shows) so they don't look all pale and blotchy on TV.

Some of it looks REALLY caked on.

Shatner's fake hair during the 1980s was a continual distraction. That said, whatever surgery or other cosmetic work he's had done in the hair area the last ten years or so has been excellent and an all-around improvement.

So she looks like REAL real-doll?:D

:lol: WOW! the first picture she's stunning, but the later one makes her look like Jack Nickelson's JOKER!:guffaw: somebody PLEASE photoshop that picture STAT!:guffaw:

^ I always find it sad how many women I THOUGHT had their heads on straight (whether it's Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Burnett, or Helgenberger), actually turn out to be just as vain and obsessed with their looks as any other actress.

Hopefully the newest crop of young actresses don't go down that route too...

Shatner's fake hair during the 1980s was a continual distraction.

That is so true! I teased a friend of mine (who worked at a DVD store) regarding Shat's hairpiece. As a matter of fact it was just after seeing The Menagerie on the big screen. I told him that it was so blatant in some scenes, and my friend couldn't believe me. But then I pointed out the TJ Hooker DVD cover and he could only agree with me!

Madchen Amick was hot in the 90s. She's still cute, but the plastic surgery has made her worse.

Supposedly Andrea Roth (Rescue Me) had plastic surgery which is a distraction to some, but I can't tell.

I don't agree with it, but I can understand a degree vanity and obsession with looks in an industry so obsessed with youth. I now live in Southern California. I've seen a surprising amount of decent mild plastic surgery. Near undetectable. But so many go way, way overboard. And overboard or not, it is a surgery, it can go horribly wrong.

Horribly Wrong Exhibit B: Joan Van Ark. Too horrifying to post the pictures directly into the thread.

Before.

Some decent work.

Lost the plot.

Yeah, even if the hair itself didn't look fake and ridiculous, the fact his hairline changes COMPLETELY between the series and movies says it all.
