All that stuff? Wow, I can see the McCoy figure is easily going to be worth the most as a collectible; there is no way I'm taking him out now.

Oh come on. Wouldn't you trade the tricorder for barefeet? Or for the six-pack abs?...

I admit, that is tempting. Very tempting.

But this is my first action figure, and I have Virgo rising. Add to that, I usually buy things and let them "age" a few weeks before I even take them out of the bag. (Husband parlance: "rot.")

This is new territory for me. I will have to take it one day at a time. Also, my great-grandad lived into his '90's, and I aspire to that. Bones could be valuable by then.

...ahh, but is he fully functional?

I am surmising $29.95 doesn't get us that.

I know I've seen sites devoted to mod'ing action figures. It could get a little pricey if you go through multiple figures and make mistakes. 'Tho it would create a nice supply of spare parts!

You know, back in the day, when I was about 12 and watching TOS in reruns, I had at the time what I considered an embarrassing problem. All my friends were obsessing over the Bay City Rollers, and Leif Garret, or David Cassidy. My few Trekker girlfriends liked Kirk and Chekov. And I was crushing on McCoy. Rather difficult to explain when you're that age, but I had a pretty good idea of what it was I was interested in, just not completley sure about the actual ahem mechanics, of what it all was. I just knew that teeny bopper idols didn't exude it.

Ahh. It's a good thing to have McCoy back in the current package. A very good thing.

BTW, thanks for the "friend" requests- you know who you are.

Well just checked the status, and my 12" McCoy is nearly here! Should be here 6/4!

He's sitting on a UPS truck somewhere south of me... Mereope, I agree with you, I tend to 'free' my figures from their little plastic jails.

I am thrilled you folks liked the wallpapers. I usually just make them for myself but this one I just had to share. There is just something about the look on his face that says McCoy to me. (My OCD kicks in whenever my icons sit over details in the picture so I add a strips across the top and the bottom. It makes everything look all "widescreen" but helps things look neat for me.)

And Mereope I have always had a thing for McCoy too. Even when I was a kid, all my friends were chattering on and on about Spock and Kirk but I was a diehard McCoy fan, so much so I almost became a doctor.

i really liked all the characters but i had a soft spot for bones.
really considering i was kid when i first started watching tos i wouldnt have minded him for father or an uncle.

actually he reminded me of some of the men i knew from the south.

and i could easily see urbans enterance as how bones really was at the time.

That's what I love, I can easily see him as McCoy... only younger. Karl was amazing in the role. And I loved his opening scene. Scruf!McCoy.

I just moved up here from Florida- Hi Pookha! I thought I had seen you and a couple of the others from HoT over here. I've lurked around here occasionally, but since the "fun" quotient went up, I decided to delurk and rejoin the main herd.

I think I liked older men from a very young age. It used to be McCoy and Scotty. Now it's McCoy and Pike. I think I've finally aged into my preferred age range where men are concerned. Although hell, this whole damn cast is drool worthy.
