Years ago with my Star Wars/Xena/Herc stuff, I used to leave it in the packaging... but now it's out on the shelves. I have a home office with two sets of shelves where I put things out from my collections.

Some of the things I have in packages still just because they look better that way, but most of it is out.

Yes, ours should be the same one CD has :)

It's the 12" McCoy figure from Playmates.

    ^ Very exciting!

Mine is exactly the same as CD's and I don't think Playmates made any other 12" so I would assume it is the same. And no they don't talk.

I have been thinking... I haven't decided yet if I will... that I might post the desktop wallpaper I made of Karl for others to use. I think you folks might like it. Of course I have a huge 1600x900 monitor but I still have the parts to make several smaller sizes. I have been looking for a few other stills to use as well. I might do several different kinds just for the hell of it.

And I was thinking about this last night. Since he is a fan of TOS, I wonder of Mr. Urban has read any of this thread. If he has, I would be so embarrassed. I wouldn't want him to think I was some weirdo talking about his doll's underwear! :alienblush:

AstroSmurf, well, maybe you actually charmed the pants off him.

That would be so kind of you! Is the wallpaper from the movie? I haven't seen it.

Well, you're okay if he only reads this thread because your pic isn't in this one. You're screwed if he reads the "picture this" thread as well and then meets you... :p

Yep - because the post where AstroSmurf mentions the Starfleet underwear is also the one where he posts his own picture :)

Oh my! I doubt that but thank you. I am huge flirt but I don't think he would even be remotely interested in little ol' me.

And I did decide to post these wallpapers after all... enjoy.

Folks, I am sensing a slight problem here...

I remember what it was like. The shiny exterior. The pristine, unsullied interior. The idea that in some horrid way, it was like deflowering a Vestal Virgin, to rip away the protective coverings to expose the soft figure within. But once you've accustomed yourself to sacrilege it gets much easier.

So speaking from experience, I would like to encourage each and every one of you to commit the unthinkable. RIP those action figures out of their sterile, monastic cocoons! Release them from the S & M bondage of plastic ties. Display them in all their naked glory, hell, mix up their accessories. Create little tableaux vivants and poses plastiques. If you really feel ballsy, rebuild them. Don't wait for Playmate; turn Cadet McCoy into drunk, scruffy McCoy.

An unopened action figure is like virginity or an Icelandic bank account: a frozen asset.

But hasn't an early post determined that KU looks great barefooted? So, if you could lose action figure McCoy's shoes, and show bare feet, wouldn't that be a good thing?

But what about the Phaser, the utility belt, the hypospray, the padd, the wallet, the Bic razor, the purse, the tricorder.....

All that stuff? Wow, I can see the McCoy figure is easily going to be worth the most as a collectible; there is no way I'm taking him out now.

Dr. Mc Coy the breakfast cereal!
Dr. Mc Coy the toilet paper!
Dr. Mc Coy the flame thrower (boy, the kids really love that one!)

Oh come on. Wouldn't you trade the tricorder for barefeet? Or for the six-pack abs?

Besides, even if you don't know much about sewing, how hard would it be to make up little individual Star Fleet duffel bags for each figure? To keep all their little things, plus extra wardrobe items?

    Sewing project!

Look, keep one pristine in the box (poor trapped little thing) for resell purposes if you feel the need. I kept my action figures imprisoned for years. And then I checked them out on Ebay, and realized it wasn't worth it. That was a fun day. Two solid hours ripping open my 40 + item collection- mainly TNG figures. (and a few ST Mutant Ninja Turtles). But I just looked at Ebay, and in the completed auctions, there are over 5000 ST action figures, and over 3000 currently up for sale. There are very few that are selling for much, if anything.
