Are the Bring Back Kirk people happy w/this film?

Does this film satisfy all the BBK people out there? Granted, Shatner wasn't in the movie, but it seems Kirk's fate (as well as everyone else) has been altered.

Any thoughts?

I don't see how they could have a problem. The timeline is altered, so Kirk's fate is no longer set in stone... Heck we call all forget that Generations even happened (thank God!)!

On the other hand isn't this meant to be an alternate timeline? If it is infact an alternate time line Pine's version of Kirk's fate is altered, but not Shatner's Kirk prime.

But, the way I read the movie was that it takes place in the same universe, but history has been altered.

I'm a little confused where the timeline stands.

The "Bring back Shat" contingent may still be grumbling, but the "Kirk" crowd should be pleased.

No doubt that your right from a certain point of view, but I still don't understand if we are in our old universe or a new one has been created?

IF an alternate universe has been created doesn't Kirk's fate in Generations stand?

If old Spock is still around, then so too is old Kirk--I would imagine.

Don't know if it makes sense to bring him back for the next movie though; I think it's all a matter of control and ego, though.

But, isn't old Spock around because he went through the black hole that he created with the red matter?

I'm really not smart enough to figure all of this out. Could someone explain it to me?

I don't know, I've come face to face with two ''bring shat back'' types, and let me say THOSE people have more issue's then I do! (and I ain't talking comic book issue's either);)

I could care less if they bring Shat back (although it would be cool) I just wanted the Kirk character to get a better fate. It seems like he does, but I'm not sure if this is a second timeline or if history has simply been altered?

As I recall from the AOL days, the BBK's position was for Shatner to return as a resurrected, post-Generations Kirk. The movie doesn't seem to fulfill their requirements.

I'm thinking they'd still be pissed because it's not Shatner playing 28-year-old Kirk in this movie.

Anyone remember a significantly smaller movement on the internet (for all I know it was just one person) who was pissed off Connor Macleod was killed off and demanded that he be brought back?

If FATE as referenced in the comments by the writers was a driving force that brought Kirk and Old Spock together because their friendship MUST happen I would like to believe that same FATE would mean Kirk died at Soran's hand in this timeline as well.

I disagree.

The new timeline is already showing us significant differences. For example Pike's fate is very different.

What's the point of this timeline if everything is going to happen in the same way?

Everyone's fate is wide open.
