Re: 'Sigh'...A feminist review of Star Trek XII

Back to the feminists.

How come there are no Meninists? It is because they need no validation?

Ah it's because you men are runnin the show (for now)...so you don't need menninism...

Oh please. There are quite a few black racists (and other skincolors besides) out there as well. Being racist is definitely not something reserved for those of Caucasians descent. As such, a white male has exactly the same probability of experiencing racism as someone else has. Besides, that's off-topic.

You're absolutely correct...racist is not reserved for just the whiteys...I hear "reverse racism" and I don't like that either...believe me I say something no matter who is making the comment.

You're incorrect with your assesement that a white male has just as much of a chance at being discrimated against than say a black guy...not here in the USA! But we've really made great strides..one word: Obama!

I'm REALLY likin' this girl!

Damn baby...I see you have serious issue! :guffaw:
You've got a certain...I don't know what about you.

Re: 'Sigh'...A feminist review of Star Trek XII

But anyhoo.....I don't know about me and a mini skirt.... you're not supposed to wear them if you're over 35, or is it 30?? And besides you guys probably won't like it, and that's my main function: to please men.......my legs are very muscular especially my calves...so yeah I just know you guys wouldn't be interested!
You can't decide for us what we'd like or not, that's just sexist. We need to see it for ourselves. :D

Alright ....here it is...I have to come clean...I'm 37 ...I don't own any miniskirts anymore....i think......
Yes, you said that already. If you're not even sure you don't have miniskirts, there are probably still some lying around in your closet. :D

Or perhaps that woman in your avatar isn't really you, but you're actually 500 pounds, with 3 chins, a mole on your nose with hair growing out of it and, to top it all off, 17 mental disorders. If that's true, then never mind, we don't wanna see it. :D

Re: 'Sigh'...A feminist review of Star Trek XII

I wouldn't have minded seeing Robau in his underwear, or better still in the buff, but I don't think that would have been easily written into the script.

I'm about 10 seconds away from posting my kilt pic and ruining the thread for everyone.

But the difference is, when Al Sharpton goes off on racist tirades, there are no consequences. When he had his soapbox moment about straightening up Don Imus, that was nothing but a big joke. It'd be like Charlie Sheen speaking out against prostitution.

Since when are men running the show? Oh wait, I guess men are running Star Trek.

Nice gams, huh?

Gigity.

I can't promise to simmer...but you have my word that I'll saute.
I almost read "salute" there... that would be the other sex.

I read salute at first as well, and then was really confused. And I'll admit I had to go to dictionary.com to figure out what "saute" meant.

Re: 'Sigh'...A feminist review of Star Trek XII

I'm a linguist myself and I have to say... no linguist, male OR female, would be diving into that bar fight. Have I missed some new media convention out there of inaccurately portraying linguists as badasses? Because we're really not. :p It's not a question of sex at all.

Oh, and way to go feminists undermining your own messages. It seems the original ranter has internalized the idea that "fighting = masculine = good" and "not fighting = feminine = bad". Frankly, I would be disappointed if anyone tried to make Uhura into some kind of action girl just to please "feminists". Some baseline Academy training in self-defense is believable, but not even the real world military expects its linguists to fight like badasses. Starfleet isn't even a military!

(That aside, I think the underwear scene was awesome simply because Uhura was so confident in her undies -- no shrieking "Eek! Don't look!" for her!)

Oh alright I'll see what I have...just for you though! It's true...I could be anybody really...that's what so messed up about the internet...you really can't/shouldn't believe anybody. Like your old picture for instance...you had a cute girl up there as your pic :p ..but seriously that's me...if I was posting a fake pic...believe you me it would be a lot better than that !

Me neither...I found him to be very very attractive. I want him to captain my ship.... Believe me they invent ways to get these scenes into scripts for women all the time...we need some nakedness equality!!!
Did you notice the biker cops thighs? You need to observe that next time you see it..... they were positively juicy!

I'm about 10 seconds away from posting my kilt pic and ruining the thread for everyone.

DO IT...YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT!!!

BTW it occurs to me Uhura had a lot of screen time clothed and she was not only competent but exemplary in her abilities. I guess they didn't notice that part?

So actually, she wants to cook you in a shallow pan over relatively high heat. That's scary.

Hey, it makes since in the context of "I can't promise I'll simmer..."

I'm a linguist myself and I have to say... no linguist, male OR female, would be diving into that bar fight.

I'll let you tell that to the very badass female linguist I went to college with. Granted, she was ROTC and is now in some elite something or other in the army, so there's a chance she MIGHT be an exception. ;)

That doesn't count because she was in her underwear at one point. IRL, confident, competent women don't wear underwear.
