Re: Star Trek as we know it has been wiped away

Guys, this topic is being discussed in another thread which was started earlier than this one.

I am merging them now...

Merge...merge....merge.....

Re: Star Trek as we know it has been wiped away

In this reality Kirk is really the first Captain of the Enterprise, according to TOS, Spock served with Pike for 11 years and Captain April (TAS, I think) had the Enterpise before him. So there is alot of years before the timeline of the original 5 years mission even begins.

The timeline can always "repair itself" as is a popular Scence Fiction staple. For example, we know the events of First Contact were not altered, as the Earth would be full of Borg had Nero's actions rippled that far into the future. The further into the future the less effect Nero's actions will have.

burning down everything that we know is not the answer.

Yes, it was. Now they can make interesting movie where we don't already know the outcome.

I can't stress that enough. Star Trek films will now be exciting and interesting, which they wouldn't have been if we knew exactly what was going to happen to all the characters.

Again why should the Franchise care about the fans...they never have before.

They did the absolute nicest thing they could have for the fans. They gave us a reason to believe all our TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY DVDs still matter. That stuff all still exists in an alternate universe.

If they HADN'T restarted the timeline in this film, then future Trek Films would start to trample all over those shows we loved, confusing us and discrediting the old shows.

The way it is now, these films exist over here in Universe B and those shows exist over there in Universe A.

Paramount gave us serious fans a HUGE gift by doing that, and I'm grateful for it.

Re: Star Trek as we know it has been wiped away

Star Trek as we know it has been wiped away. This change in the time line has caused every series (with the exception of Enterprise) to become non-existent.

Why do people keep saying this? Spock crossed over from one universe to another. The original one is still there, thank you very much, he just can't get back to it.
