Where did Nero / the Narada go for 25 years? (spoilers)

Just wondering about this. Maybe I missed something.

The Narada travels back in time and meets the Kelvin. Nero asks if they have seen Spock.

Spock travels through, I believe 25 years later, and is captured by Nero. His red matter is used to destroy Vulcan.

So, where was the Narada for 25 years? Did they just hang around waiting for Spock? Or were they able to time travel to when Spock appeared?

I think Nero was just waiting for Spock to appear, he wanted Spock to witness the destruction of Vulcan.

They cut some stuff where Nero was imprisoned on Rura Penthe for most of that time, I think.

They cut some stuff where Nero was imprisoned on Rura Penthe for most of that time, I think.

Didn't that happen BEFORE he went back into the past?

The OP is talking about the time between attacking the Kelvin and destroying Vulcan.

So am I. If you read the Countdown comics, there's no time for any of that before Narada is thrown into the past. And the Kelvin incident happened near Klingon space, suggesting a possible reason for his imprisonment.

Wasn't there a scene in the trailer where Nero knifes two guys on each side of a door he's walking through? Where was that?

Yes the missing scenes where the crew locked up in Rura Penthe, escaping (and blowing away a entire FLEET of Klingons) and at that point he meets up with Spock having deduced at what point he would show up while imprisoned.

Too bad they didn't show that, would have helped IMO. Is that going to be on the DVD?

What I really wondered, though, was how exactly did the Klingons manage to take Nero's crew prisoners after the Kelvin incident? Was the Narada really that crippled after George Kirk's attack? And more importantly, is that something we will see in a deleted scene?

Abrams would have had to explain how a crippled Narada was taken by the Klingons, and more importantly, how Nero escaped. Abrams cut this because he said it diverted audience attention from the flow of the movie.

Aren't Klingons more advanced than Federation starships anyway? Perhaps with a large fleet they were able to get them. Though, i wonder why they wouldn't have takin the Narada for themselves and dismantled it for the technology.

Didn't they also state, though, that after Nero managed to escape from Rura Penthe he destroyed 47 Klingon ships? So, how large a fleet must that have been 25 year earlier that was able to beat the Narada – a ship from 200 years in the future?

That was the whole problem with the Nero in Rura Penthe schema: yes, it explained the passage of time, but how dumb was Nero to get caught, and how dumb were the Klingons to let him get the Narada back?

Probably took a few of those years to repair the damage of having the USS Kelvin shoved up his ship's ass by George Kirk, don't you think?

Exactly. The cut scenes with the Klingons help explain where Nero and the Narada were between 2233 and 2258.

I'm just going to ignore that. If it's not in the film, it didn't happen. I agree with Jesus, who wept. The idea is a bit weird and my brain doesn't seem to want to compute. Maybe I'll change my mind once I see the deleted stuff on the dvd, if it makes it to the dvd, that is.
