The last thing I wanted was my show to be the butt of Simon Pegg's stand-up routine. I'm trying not to think of the animal cruelty issue here.
It makes me all kinds of happy that "Enterprise" is the only the show to have happened in both continuities.
I am waiting for the beagle to rematerialized in the next film.
See, Enterprise fans got the nod they deserved, even if it's not exactly what they were expecting. It makes me all kinds of happy that "Enterprise" is the only the show to have happened in both continuities.
What, you mean Ivanatan Yenrikovich Archerov? What it is wrong about him?Overhearing a teacher mentioning the Romulan War in an Academy Class. "Who was the Captain of the NX-01?" A question to which Chekov answers with a Russian name but is then corrected...
All the unseen history Archer must surely have been involved in, and all they can reference is his name and the fact he owned a beagle.

It's a cute little nod, but given that Enterprise takes place about a century before this movie (which the writers may or may not have been aware of), I think we have to logically () assume that Scotty's referring to some other Archer (possibly a descendant) who happened to have a beagle.
Yeah, yeah, I hate to be the "continuity guy", but someone had to say it.
Who wants to think that TNG and DS9 were discarded, but Enterprise wasn't?
Actually, that already happens in the final scene of the novellization of the movie.I am waiting for the beagle to rematerialized in the next film.![]()

OH REALLY? Haven't found the novelization for sale yet hereWill definitely read it now.

I thought about that too for a sec as well - ENT takes place around 2151, and the film is set in 2258, so that would make him around 140...
But I just liked the reference anyway, and by the fact that life expectancies tend to increase over the years due to medical advancements I think that it's plausible he could have lived until then. Whatever - it's just a throwaway line to those who know who Archer is.
Scotty got sent to Delta Vega because of what he did to "Admiral Archer's prized beagle."
Did he kill Porthos?
Couldn't believe we actually got an Enterprise reference. I'm only sorry Old Spock didn't get to say hi to Pike.

I don't think it was possible to be Porthos. Maybe another dog of Admiral Archer's.
Or any Deep Space Nine or Voyager references, for that matter. Not many TNG refs, as far as I can tell.
There was a mention of some kind of Cardassian drink, at the Starfleet bar.
Other visual nods include Pike's admiral uniform, very similar to Kirk's in TMP, and the first real look at the Enterprise herself as the music swelled was very reminiscent of our first look at the old girl in TMP.
Also, nuSpock meeting Old Spock reminded me a great deal of the Spock/Sarek conversation near the end of TVH.
I'm sure there were a few other small ones (the bit with the apple went completely over my head until it was mentioned). Those are the one I can think of after two viewings.
