Barrowman - king of cheese

No need to get defensive. It's just the weirdest tv clip I remember seeing that's not taken out of context (like snippets from Japanese shows).

ria: true, true, but even so.... that was the gayest thing I've ever seen, and I've seen Will & Grace, and at my workplace one time some guys gave us a demo of the dresses and the dance routine they were putting on in the Sydney Mardi Gras. And yes, gay in a very outdated way. Damn, I think it was outdated in the 1980s! :)

Did you know Barrowman auditioned for the part of Will? Should have got it, I think. Instead they gave it to a straight guy who isn't that good an actor.

in what way was Will & Grace gay?

ive got an obviously gay guy at work today, doesnt try on dresses however, but we dont sell dresses, we sell glasses.

Fair enough. ;)

I read about that. They thought Barrowman didn't look gay enough. At the time.
If I remember correctly, Will doesn't get many dates. That wouldn't have made much sense with John Barrowman, I think. Plus different dynamics with Grace, I'm sure. It would have been a totally different show.

About the clip, sure. One thing I'm saying is if it was labeled worst sketch in comedy history it would get even more views.

Having thought about it, I think that sketch was done in a 'post moderrn' or 'ironic' style. Surely they couldn't be doing it as a straight comedy sketch.

Uhhhh. If you know what I mean.

:D

I'm reminded of a line by Bill Bailey: "I'm a post-modern vegetarian. I eat meat ironically".

Well it is Al Murray, he has the whole "Pub Landlord" character who's all post modern with his British pride.

Still, gotta love that big gay Tom Cruise lookalike. :D

Rob Lowe lookalike ;) I can't watch Brothers and Sisters without thinking they could switch them and no one would realise.

Are you saying the Scottish seem very gay?

Are we not supposed to? Aw :(

I've heard a few different stories on that - the only one I remember clearly was Barrowman saying he was too gay - that the network was more secure having a straight gay lead rather than a gay gay lead.

Though stories change easily depending who you're talking to.

yes I think I heard that as well, seems crazy to me, same goes for Jack he was played by a straight guy.

Those two arguments are not incompatible. I have addressed yours twice before in other threads.
