No need to get defensive. It's just the weirdest tv clip I remember seeing that's not taken out of context (like snippets from Japanese shows).
Fair enough. No need to get defensive.
I read about that. They thought Barrowman didn't look gay enough. At the time.Did you know Barrowman auditioned for the part of Will? Should have got it, I think. Instead they gave it to a straight guy who isn't that good an actor.
Well it is Al Murray, he has the whole "Pub Landlord" character who's all post modern with his British pride.Having thought about it, I think that sketch was done in a 'post moderrn' or 'ironic' style. Surely they couldn't be doing it as a straight comedy sketch.
Uhhhh. If you know what I mean.
I'm reminded of a line by Bill Bailey: "I'm a post-modern vegetarian. I eat meat ironically".
Still, gotta love that big gay Tom Cruise lookalike.![]()
Are you saying the Scottish seem very gay?

yes I think I heard that as well, seems crazy to me, same goes for Jack he was played by a straight guy.I've heard a few different stories on that - the only one I remember clearly was Barrowman saying he was too gay - that the network was more secure having a straight gay lead rather than a gay gay lead.
Though stories change easily depending who you're talking to.
Those two arguments are not incompatible. I have addressed yours twice before in other threads.I read about that. They thought Barrowman didn't look gay enough. At the time.
