What superhero had the dumbest looking costume?

To quote Edna Mode in The Incredibles: "NO CAPES!"

Except Batman.

But only if drawn by Neal Adams or Marshall Rogers.

He already looked like a blonde Namor (except he doesn't look like a male stripper) before, this made him more like a pirate renegade or something.

The writing made him a force to be not messed with, though.

Aw, I like Luke Cage's outfit. It's supposed to be a little cheap and cheasy -- he's on the clock!

There was a great gag in one issue where he goes to the shop where he gets his replacement shirts ("finest yellow silk available!") and pants. After he leaves, the guy behind him goes up to the counter.

"Yes, sir, Dr. Banner, I have your pants right here!"

:guffaw:

I don't know if this qualifies as "bad" but I've always thought Spawn was Todd McFarlane going "Hi, I'm auditioning to draw Spider-Man..."

Original Firestorm immediately came to mind. One of those costumes that was trying so hard to be cool that it massively failed. Original Nightwing, too. Yech.

Wonder Woman is somewhat impractical and nonsensical. And has no one pointed out that Martian Manhunter's classic 'straps' uniform is practically not there first of all, and on top of that, is actually part of his body? :wtf:

The big DC guys could all stand an 'Ultimates' redesign.

The actual answer to that question is Cosmic Boy's costume from the 1970's.

Now I think we can close the thread.

It looked sexy in a way ...

The funny thing about this costume is that is one of the few equal opportunity costumes. The female characters have been wearing less for ages without complaint. Put an equally skimpy outfit on a guy and suddenly its criminally awful.

I'm not a fan of his coustume, but considering some of the things that they've put the women in, its not really that bad.

Mr. Terrific. Old TV show. Go look it up. He had metallic golden fabric flappers under each arm and flapped his arms to take off flying.

Oddly, I think the costume might look better if he were wearing less. If he were just running around in black briefs, it would be kinda skimpy, but about on par with many professional wrestlers. It's the black parts that come up the sides--seemingly to cover his boobs, except that he doesn't have boobs--that makes it look so appalling. I think the other posters who have quoted "Sweet Transvestite" have been right on the money.

Another weird thing about that costume is that Cosmic Boy is wearing it, since he's supposed to be this super serious, straight-laced, by-the-book kind of guy. Well, I guess there's more than one meaning to the word "straight-laced". ;)
