Why archive? They come around and make the same posts again and again.

I like this, from the video review:

Another question for those that also frequent the Spoilers thread...

I'm curious, how is the conversation in there ?
Is every bit dissected and overanalyzed ? Is the overall climate positive and are there screams for murder and violated childhoods ?

^^^ I've been wondering the same thing, but hints in here and elsewhere suggest not!

The anguish about the most significant divergence from TOS in the movie is shockingly subdued - some folks are upset about it, but there is not a lot of shrieking and outrage. I'm frankly astonished that there's as much acceptance as there is.

The reviews of this film are stunning. Expect this to be the best blockbuster of the year

Yeah, they haven't started hacking each other to bits about the more subtle, but I think more significant, divergence from the original. It's only a matter of time.

And major spoilers are being placed in spoiler boxes allowing the spoiler wary to experience the thread in relative safely. (Thank you!)

I have been spoiled on minor things though, like the "bones" nick origins but that is something along the same lines as we've been getting on threads outside of that thread for weeks.

If someone has asked this, I must have missed it but: Do credits roll at the beginning or end? And does the title look like the latest incarnation?

The review published over at Trekweb ends with:

This parallels a remark over at AICN: "This year, the Trekkies win the argument. Star Trek is cooler than Star Wars."

That's a very bold claim. I look forward to seeing if it's true or not.

it's better in the way Casino Royale is better than Goldfinger. And I don't think it's better, just different, and an exceptional movie in its own way.

If ST is indeed better than the latest SW films look for SW fans demand Lucas to make a New SW film for a counter-attack:lol:

Even SD.net is starting to see the light

I was hoping the movie would have a memorable theme (like Star Wars or TMP) but you are the second person who is not that crazy about it. But I guess that's not a big deal, as long as the overall music is good and enhances the viewing experience.

I, for one, am relieved that it seems the general consensus on this film is that it is at least "good" (and even "great"). I haven't seen it yet, but most who have seems to be giving it a favorable review.

I was a little worried that I would be following the production of this film for 2 years only to be delivered a stupid, flat, formulaic and forgettable action film. That would have been disappointing to say the least.
