Thanks for asking that question, SalvorHardin. It's definitely annoying in the clips and trailers that we've seen

I recently revisited Abrams' Mission Impossible 3.
He used his technique there too and there where lens flares all over the film but it didn't bother me at all.
So I'm hopping it will be ok with Trek as well.

But lets wait for the answer of one of the folks who have seen it.

Good :techman: And I haven't seen anyone complain in any review too, now that i think about it.

What about the 'shakycam' style stuff? Is there a lot of that?

I just saw a clip on You Tube where Spock confronts Kirk and Scotty after they beam aboard during warp flight and the lens flares are a bit too much.

It's amazing to me how many more page views the spoiler thread has. I'm staying the hell out of that thread ha ha!

I'm thrilled that everyone enjoyed the movie so much! After completely ruining Nemesis like I did, I'm refusing to go anywhere where there may be major spoilers... though I'm not strong enough to avoid the clips that get released! Getting more and more excited by the day!

Glad the flick is getting awesome reviews. I'm staying out of the spoiler thread as much as I can. I don't want this film ruined.

So if this movie is a huge success, can we get J.J. to reboot the Star Wars prequel trilogy too?

Though that would probably mean Terry O'Quinn as Qui-Gon, Keri Russell as Padme, Joshua Jackson as Anakin, Lance Reddick as Mace Windu, Alan Dale as Dooku... :)

It has it's moments where it's more prominent, but it's not Cloverfield-esque in intensity. When it's there it adds to feel.

One other thing to note about the visual effects: the Firefly/BSG shaky/zoom/focusing camera style is present (not to the extent in those shows though). I think it adds a sense of realism.

i remember being thrilled that lucas was going to tell the story of anakin skywalker and then embittered by the pathetic casting, characterization, and dreck that passed for dialogue.

unfortunately, i fear that that chapter of star wars will never be told again.

I have a few nerdy questions I would like to ask those who have seen the movie...

    - What is it like hearing Majel's voice for the computer, does it feel like the TNG computers?

    - Does this film still have the Captain's Log Voiceovers at various points?

    - Does the Goldsmith Star Trek theme feature in the score along with the Alexander Courage one?

    - What are the Kelvin Computer screens like, more like the series Enterprise or more like the ones on the JJ Enterprise?

    - Does the Engine Room feature a Warp Core?

    - Do we see enough of the Kobyashi Maru scenario and Starfleet Academy?

    - And finally, do we see any computer displays at random stations, or is it mainly just the bridge displays?
