...I would've welcomed seeing Scott (even in heavy old age latex), there to see this landlocked Enterprise take flight. Something alluded to onscreen in the U.S.S. Defiant computer screen from "In A Mirror, Darkly Part II"... supposedly the fanon derived launch date of 2245, now shifted forward for the convenience of introducing so many TOS characters all at once.
Actually, that fact about Archer witnessing the launch of the TOS Enterprise never made it on screen in
In a Mirror Darkly. The script called for it, but it was not in the finished TV show.
Here's what memory-alpha.org says:
"Although it did not appear on-screen, the final section of the bio would have revealed that Archer dies in 2245, one day after attending the christening ceremony of the USS Enterprise, the first Federation starship to bear the name."
