Scott Bakula's Take on the New Movie & Fan Reaction

Enterprise was a great concept, but poorly executed in my opinion. Not just often bland writing, but also alot of the tech shown was too advanced. They got things like the grapple right, but then they had to throw in phasers instead of lasers and transporters instead of shuttlecraft. And as eddie said upstream, not enough TOS backstory. Not sure T'Pol was a good character since she was just a Spock/7of9 fusion. I like Bakula too, but I think he was ultimately miscast.

Some great ideas though, but ended up a bit of a bland mess really.

Bakula's not the right guy to play a Starfleet captain but I could see him in various other roles.

I couldn't disagree with this sentiment more...

Nah, I like him, but he was pretty weak in Enterprise. And no, not intentionally so.

nope, he wasn't "weak" at all. but the writing sure was, mostly.

Funny, as soon as I saw the title I knew this would quickly degenerate into Enterprise-bashing. Really rather sad.

Someone within the production who used to post here under a pseudonym (I think it was "Morpheus") and who was no cheerleader for the producers ("I have no idea what they're thinking" was his/her response to the Ferengi episode) described trying to refresh Star Trek as something like trying to turn a leaking oil tanker in shallow water.

He was also a big fan of my "Enterprise" reviews, which probably wasn't a good sign.

Watched "Silent Enemy" with my son; he found it entertaining.

Still hates pineapples though.

sorry Scott, your series still sucked. Hard to blame Bakula when the scripts of the first two or three seasons were so incredibly uninspiring.

I wonder whether the reaction of Bakula's son is symptomatical for people his age. Maybe it's just us fans that are excited by the movie but young people in general aren't?

Agree on many Season 2 offerings, but overall the first two years of ENT were the strongest of any freshman and sophomore TREK years since DS9. Even VOYAGER started to disappoint and royally so by Year 2.
