X-Men Origins: Wolverine workprint leaked - Not April Fools

I'll just say that whether workprint or not, this movie blew donkey balls. X3 was fucking high art compared to this dreck from Gavin Hood. The only thing good was a certain 'cameo' at the end which explains why Scott Summers doesn't remember a lot.

Highly unlikely. You better believe that Paramount has doubled/triped the security around all the Star Trek XI film copies after hearing about this Wolverine leak.:rommie:

You're assuming that the initial theft of the Wolverine print happened yesterday, and that whoever might hypothetically do the same to Star Trek would not have thought of doing it until this afternoon.

The Professor??

Did any of you guys who watched this find out if Deadpool is the Baraka look-alike, or closer to the comics? This has been bothering me, as I have been looking forward to Deadpool in this film.

*SPOILERS*

He doesn't wear a mask. But he's pretty spot on in his first two or three scenes. After that, he leaves the film. He comes back later as Weapon XI. He has katanas that come out of his arms (don't ask how it's possible), healing, no eyelids, can use optic blasts, and can teleport. The worst part? His mouth is sown shut. So, you get a little of both. But when you see him later it's a letdown.

*END SPOILERS*

The name "Deadpool" is not used until the Baraka-like Weapon XI is created towards the end of the film. Prior to that Ryan Reynolds is only referred to as Wade Wilson. Weapon XI is a "pool" of the powers and abilities of numerous other captured or killed mutants, including Wolverine's regenerative powers and pop-out forearm blades, Cyclop's eye beams, John Wraith's teleportation, and more, hence the Deadpool name. Unfortunately wisecracking Wade is barely in the film for all of a couple minutes at the beginning, and then reappears at the end with his mouth sewn shut by Stryker so he can't be a smartass.

Well that sucks. That should probably kill the chances of a Deadpool spinoff.

At the end Wolverine decapitates him and his head falls down through the cooling tower at Three Mile Island (Stryker's secret mutant prison facility) with eye-beams destroying the tower, thus presumably causing the 1979 meltdown in the X-Men Universe. I suppose he could regenerate a new body since his brain is still intact, but he wouldn't be the Deadpool of the comics since he can't talk and is largely controlled by computer.

I'm going to see the film again in theaters, because I want to give it a second chance with a proper score and finished VFX, and I'd feel guilty for watching the workprint and not the final product, but as it stands now I'd give this film a "B-" and rank the films:

X-2
X-Men
X-3
X-Men - Origins: Wolverine

But this is just a preliminary grade based on the workprint and people should give it a chance when the finished film comes out if they had any plans to see it before.

I don't get it frankly, because the stuff with Reynolds wisecracking at the beginning worked and was pretty funny. Why feature so little of him if you knew it was a fan favorite character? They could have eliminated one of the several redundant and anti-climactic Wolverine/Sabretooth fights in favor of more comedic Deadpool. We get way more of the bland Agent Zero even.

Well, the unfinished aspect actually intrigued me the most so I checked this out. I think it's not bad actually, it works well in the context of its "pop" movie interpretation and does a good job juggling its multiple characters. I think if you enjoyed the others you will find things to like here.

** POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD BUT I'M DELIBERATELY TRYING TO JUST HINT

It only really blows up at the very end with some really questionable handling of two characters, one is spoiled quite heavily above (and I think the fans will be quite pissed) and the other, let's just say they only focus on a less known secondary mutation than what the character is generally known for. However, if you are not a comic fan you might not even notice. Sabretooth is rather cool here though he's not quite the bastard he is in the comics.

This just sounds like a total mess. I don't see much redeemable about anything here. I assume that Gambit is just a cameo because Stryker wanted him on the team but he fought back?

Gambit was originally one of the mutants captured by Stryker's team as part of his experiments for the Weapon XI program. He became the only mutant to escape from "The Island" prison before the end of the film, which is why Wolverine needs his help to find where The Island is located. After an initial fight based on a misunderstanding (Gambit thinks Wolverine is working for Stryker to recapture him), Gambit flies him to Three Mile Island in a plane he won from gambling. He also shows up again at the end briefly to help a now amnesiac Wolverine.

I think fanboys of certain x-men characters will have the biggest problem with it - certain characters are present in name only, something that will bug them but not the general public who have no idea who those people are anyway...

DEADPOOL!!!!!

This cut that is leaked is also about 15min shorter than it will be.
Editorials indicate its missing the reshoots/late footage that we know Ryan Rynolds(Deadpool) was involved with.
Soooooo, whatever is involved with Deadpool in this existing leaked draft is not going to reflect how the character ends up in the final cut of the film.

Hence fanboys will only make the sterotype worse by making any fuss over this before the film is shown properly.

...Deadpool?

:cardie: Wow. This just sounds... bad.

Catwoman and Electra bad. :scream:

I think I'll pass.

And no James and Heather Hudson? That's kind of like doing a Spider-Man origin movie without Uncle Ben. Unless FOX is saving the Hudsons and Alpha Flight for a sequel.

Not even close. It's not a terrible movie by any means, it's just not great either. It's entertaining in parts, but overall just kind of bland and anti-climactic. But again, finished VFX, a proper score, and the extra footage in the final film can go a long way towards improving that.

Did this also happen with Star Wars Revenge of the Sith? Or was that simply a screener that got leaked?

No - that was AOTC.

Harry got invited to a suite in a hotel in Vegas to be shown a near finished work print. The person who showed him ended up getting jail time and fat ass cried, "WHAT ME?!?! SAW NUTHIN!!!!!!" when the FBI wanted info from him.

I wanna see it if only for the shots of my hometown (he worked out at the gym right next to my work) and shots of Paradise, Glenorchy, etc.

Oh I forgot about that!!!

We were at Deer Park Heights about ten days ago and they showed us the spot where Wolverine's shack was standing. The tour guide was upset they tore it down because it could have been an attraction for the future!

God New Zealand is INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Statement from 20th Century Fox regarding the online leak of X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

Last night, a stolen, incomplete and early version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was posted illegally on websites. It was without many effects and had missing scenes and temporary sound and music. We immediately contacted the appropriate legal authorities and had it removed. We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it. The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law -- the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts. The FBI and MPAA are also actively investigating the crime. We are encouraged by the support of fansites condemning piracy and this illegal posting and pointing out that such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors and, above all, hurts fans of the film.

"We immediately contacted the appropriate legal authorities and had it removed." the thing is all over, and has probably been downloaded 100K+ times already by now.

But that could actually be a good thing for the movie, maybe even excellent. Lots of publicity, lots of hype, and the interest in that workprint shows that the movie will likely do very well in the cinemas.
Fox will not lose a single customer because of this, it's an unfinished workprint, noone will watch that file instead of going to the cinema but meanwhile the film gets a lot of free press...

Interesting.

I'll probably watch this. Not because I want to see the film, in fact I couldn't be less interested in the film, but these things do give a fascinating insight into the movie making process.
