X-Men Origins: Wolverine workprint leaked - Not April Fools

Yeah, I saw Adventureland last night and the Wolverine trailer actually got applause at the end. So I think if anything the movie will open huge. People love Jackman as Wolverine, since he was pretty much the main draw of the first three movies, and it is as already mentioned the first blockbuster of the summer. Regardless of what everyone's about the leaked workprint, as a fan of the first three, of Jackman's portrayal and of the X-Men in general, I'm looking forward to this.

Same experience here.
As a brief one off comment what did you think of Adventureland?

I liked it and think if they had been more faithful in advertising the type film it was it would've done better. All the "from the director of Superbad" set people up falsely for the tone of the movie I think.

I really enjoyed the film (Adventureland). I thought it was beautifully shot. I liked how it was more of a drama than a comedy, and I thought the acting was all around very well done. A bit more nuanced than Superbad, and certainly not as gross, and a really touching coming-of-age story.

As for X-Men Origins: Wolverine being staged right before the events of X-Men...I think there's some ambiguity to that. I've heard there's a scene after the credits with Logan in a bar contemplating his future. But I've also heard that if this film does well, Jackman and Co. are interested in furthermore exploring Logan's origins, which could include a trip to Japan. So I think it's up-in-the-air whether or not this is a "direct prequel" to the first X-Men but with Cyclops's age and...

Xavier's non-paralyzed appearance

...I don't think this could be a "direct prequel" to X-Men. In fact, I've heard from Jackman himself that this film takes more than twenty years before the events of the first film.

Not unless X-Men is supposed to be set in 1980, which it's clearly not.

The opening scenes of the film depict Wolverine from childhood in 1840's Canada through fighting in the American Civil War, WWI, and WWII.

The main body of the film begins with Logan and Victor serving in the Vietnam War, most likely in the very early 70s. They're recruited by Stryker, and probably spend a couple of years on his team before Wolverine quits.

The storyline then skips forward six years to find Logan living with Silver Fox in Canada again. And finally it ends in the same year on what is likely the X-Men universe's version of the Three Mile Island accident in 1979, which is when Xavier rescues the children.

However you look at it, the ending has to be less than a decade after the last major US combat troop withdrawals from Vietnam in 1972. So Jackman's 20 years before X-men reference is about right, if the film is set in 2000 like its release date.

See, the masses aren't paying attention to this workprint leak and the fever uproar by a small faction of sterotype fanboy nitpicks isn't even hitting their radar.
Wolverine tracking well, set to open big.
20th Century Fox may have less to fear than they expected regarding the online leak of the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" workprint.
Entertainment Weekly reports that early tracking figures show a high "wanna see" rating for the film which is said to be the No. 1 choice for young men and guys aged 31 and older. They also indicate the film is in for a bumper opening weekend no matter what.
The report also suggests that the leak might actually turn out to be a positive development for the film by generating heaps of free publicity, though that statement goes a bit far.

Hopefully not too much, we wouldn't want it to hurt Star Trek's opening weekend.

^^^I doubt that. All the ads I've seen for Star Trek indicates that it's repeat viewing for me. The ad for XO, with that stupid "Bub/Blob" joke, doesn't register a first viewing for me.

The second is wolverine at a bar in Canada, trying to regain his memory. this scene is obviosuly the bridge to the beginning of the first X-men film.

He is obviously not in Canada, but in Japan. If they do a sequel, it looks like they will do a movie in Japan exploring his Samurai stories.
