Canon Wars : Chapter XI

I'm wondering whether there is already a proper name for the type of paranoia some Star Trek fans seem to suffer...

Maybe its OBINCD

Obsessive "But Its Not Canon" Disorder.

The treatment:

Repeat, "It was just a TV show", 50 times.

then why was Nimoy a part of it?

Money, Boredom, Likes being part of Trek. In the end who cares? Nimoy is not the ultimate arbiter of what's good.

why did his wife like it so much she "didn't want it to end"?
I have a better question, Why should I frakking care??

can you picture a bigger geek than J.J.? The guy looks like a certifiable stereotypical 50s pocket-protector dweeb.
JJ Abrams looks like one of those idiots who think they know "What's kewl"

if he baited me, he did a pretty good job, because i haven't cared about any new trek for 10 years until now.
Yeah well when an addict needs a fix ...

Yes, it's called awareness of past failures. Some people call it History.

Aah! Finally I get it!
You simply don't like the movie and now you try your best to rain on everybody's parade!

P.S.
Never ever assume that you need to explain a graduated historian the meaning of 'history'!

Indeed.
Past failures for which almost all the same people were responsible, all of who have been fired and have nothing to do with the new movie.

But they haven't learned their lesson. Star Trek IS NOT COOL. It doesn't matter if it's popular. Star Trek at it's best is thought provoking and intellectually challenging. If the original fall short by today's standard, that's a product of our increase sophistication NOT of Star Trek (which is responsible for some of that sophistication). When ST becomes mass entertainment, that's a sign of FAILURE because mass entertainment is about surrendering to the lowest common denominator. We should be weeping at ST's degradation, not celebrating it.

I'm sorry but...what a load of crap.

Welcome to the Internet where everybody has an opinion

What good are historians, when no one wants to learn the most obvious lessons of history.

this thread is funny. it seems custom-made to start fights between haters and ST09 defenders.

can't we talk about something else? like does this mean Winona Ryder is gonna start coming to Star Trek conventions?

Well, since there's no way of properly debating with you, I'm outta here...

Yes, but she won't be allowed in the dealers' room.

Rasmussen + Ryder

When I was a kid, I sneaked into a ST convention by going backstage. Shat was there. I guess I'm guilty too.
