TREK XI Enterprise models on display (Now w/even more pics)

Re: New photos from the Enterprise replica

To be fair, (and this is not a direct response/contrary argument to what you're saying, Cary, because I know you're talking about the TMP refit) I don't think they've yet said that the old one always looked like this. I may be wrong. It's not really a prequel. Different time-line and whatnot. It just (presumably) always looked like this in the reboot universe.

Now, you can easily argue that they made a bad stylistic choice, which I think a lot of people are saying. I personally don't like a lot of the interior choices way way more than the exterior, but I'm still not 100% sold on the exterior either. I'm just 'comforted' by the fact that we will hopefully be provided with a reason why it looks different, or enough that we can come up with a reason of our own (it was built later using more advanced tech, for example.)

I just can't see the 'it looks different' argument working anymore when this is a reboot set in a different timeline and there are easy fixes for this.

They haven't. That assertion is an inane invention of some would-be critics.
As opposed to the inane blathering of some would-be experts who insult any opinion or any person they disagree with, right?
I think we've had quite enough of that from all corners, thank you very much.

No one party has had anything approaching a monopoly on blather, and that includes the "ungainly duck of a design" faction (I'll leave the more graphically scatological description preferred by another party unexpressed here.) Discuss specific details and especially address why you think they either work or don't, but stop the personal stuff now, both in what you (general "you") say and in what you (general "you") read into what is said by others; it adds nothing useful to the discussion.

Post. Not poster. Address the topic, and stop pointing fingers.

I want one for my shelf.

Is it just my eyes, or is that last one under glass camouflaged in wacky paint applications? Or is that overhead lights doing that to the model with the light being bent and refracted by the case?

That's the "Urban Graffiti" paint package.

Edit:

In the TrekMovie item about this, the image is captioned:
"Enterprise in graffiti style, by Santa Monica street artist Duncan Lemon"

Even more pictures from the replica . And high resolution too so we can see all the details better.

credit as always to whoever took these.

They remind me of the awesome TMP model with internal lighting that came out in 1979 and 1980. I can remember being in a Rose's department store at age 5-1/2 and seeing the expensive electrical-lighting Enterprise model on a shelf near the lunch counter. Next to some classic STAR WARS action figures from Kenner.

Ahhhh, those were the days.:)

From some angles the new E is really gorgeous. From others, it looks like a misshapen lump. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

Whoa!!!

That looks beautiful!!!!!

I've gotta say - IMO, this is one of the best looking Enterprise designs - ever!!!!

:)

I love it!!!!

Not my favorite by a longshot. But I already like it more than the Enterprises B thru E.:techman:
