Ashley Greene. She recently played a Vampire that could see the future.

Thanks. I thought I recognized her, but the shorter hair threw me off. I presume you're talking about her role in Twilight, yes? Haven't seen it, myself, though I knew she was part of the cast.

Yeah. Ashley had a very small role in the movie. However her character is expected to have a much bigger role in the sequel. I think she is one of the few actresses that look better with short hair than long hair.

Based on that picture, I think I agree!

I can't believe people are picking on it for not being enough like the book. If it were any more of an inside reference to the book, it would be the book.

How do you know that, if you didn't read the book?

Because every single time I ask my friends something about the movie that I didn't understand or that was confusing, they blow it off with, "Oh, that was in the book. They did a whole thing about it there." Like that weird cat. Apparently there's a big thing in the book about genetic manipulation or something? Yeah, well, for me it was a wtf moment. And they killed it anyway. The whole movie was just all over the place.

I wish they had shown where she got the gun in the movie. Since everything got vaporized, she can't pick it up in New York like in the novel. They could have had the explosion be a super version of Docs bloody exploding people power. Then the scene can play like in the comic. But that might have been too much gore even for this movie.

They did show it though it was easy to miss. Like I mentioned before Laurie took it from the cop during the prison break scene.

Then she kept the gun? She had it in her boot during her trips to Mars and Antarctica?

Nope, Laurie had it on her belt. No clue why she kept it but maybe she was just tried and thought she needed a weapon?

When I see this film for the third time (maybe next weekend) I will keep an eye out for that gun on her belt. I just didn't see it. Maybe I wasn't looking directly at her belt. :o

I figured out what bugged me about the actor that played Ozzy, he has some kind of alight speech impediment. Like a light lisp or affectation or something. It bugged me throughout the movie.

It wasn't a speech impediment. It was a slight German accent. The idea is that he adopts an American Midwestern accent when speaking in public, and reverts to a natural German accent when speaking with friends in private.

That wasn't a German accent. That was fucking awful.

It may have been fucking awful, but it still wasn't a speech impediment.

Starship, I agree with you on most things, but that's one I can't. The book may stay around, but I think the film will be gone inside 10 years. Maybe 5. If it does continue, it'll only be as an animated interpretation of the book.
Watchmen--The Complete Motion Comic is already out.

As for the film being "gone" in 5 to 10 years, what do you mean?

Obviously he means in 5 years every single copy of the movie will be burning in fire and everyone that saw it will have suddenly forgotten about it.;)

Ahem! :)

I mean that I seriously doubt this film will be on anyone's Top 50 Best Films in 10 years, maybe 5. Hell, I don't think it'll be in the SF Top 20 in 5 years. As a film, it's hollow... like a bell. It rings, but it's empty. Except for a dong.

The book's a different thing, that I imagine will stick around, it's proven itself.

Because every single time I ask my friends something about the movie that I didn't understand or that was confusing, they blow it off...

Funny, several folks I know who've seen the movie had no trouble following it and liked it fine. I guess ol' Bubastis isn't really that big a deal. :)

It's sad to say that people were walking out of the theatre before the end. I don't often see that.

I have a couple of friends who walked out after two hours plus of "The Dark Knight." One said that the damned thing just kept ending and then refusing to end.
I saw people doing the same at Return of the King.

That's really sad to do that in any of those three films - I don't understand some people's lack of attention span.

The other possibility would be, of course, that they were bored.

Simply because something is widely agreed upon by big numbers of fans to be "brilliant" doesn't mean that it appeals to everyone. Even Tolkien's books had severe critics, particularly before rip-off paperback editions started appearing in America and kids started reading his stuff stoned.

Thanks a lot. It's comments like these that turn me off to the genre as a whole, the "if you didn't get it or like it you're an idiot" mentality. My opinion was that for someone who didn't read the book, it had major problems that seriously detracted from my overall viewing experience. Sorry for not worshipping it as required.

Thanks a lot.

Sure thing, any time. All I said is that I know non-readers of the book who've watched the movie without any difficulty - that's just true. Has nothing to do with "worshipping" anything. I'm certainly not required to agree with you that your complaints reveal serious flaws in the movie, am I? Or must I share your opinion, despite my experience, in order not to offend you?

I read the book, loved it, and loved the movie. Just so happy to see the characters brought to life. What a mind-blower of a flick.
