California sucks!!!11

Just wanted to say, a lot of people have given California flak recently for many things--we're too liberal, our debt is too big, our governor sounds funny...

There are people who believe their homeland is better than California because they have four actual seasons or they get to see snow regularly or their people aren't weird.

I just want to say to all of them that I just went to the beach. In winter. On a Tuesday. In shorts.

^_^

I was wearing shorts and flip flops just Saturday. At the beach. While drinking margaritas. In late February.

I grew up in California (though I live in Indiana now), and to be honest, I never really cared for the beach. And I like snow. I know, I know, I'm weird.

But you'd be glad to know that I have finally trained my friends and family here to quit making "California" jokes around me. It took me years, too, but I did it - that's my gift to Californians everywhere. So I raise a margarita to you from the (still) frozen Midwest!

Wish I was back there every single day... The DC area SUCKS.

Crappy weather, crappy "wine", and bland people.

Cheers,
-CM-

And we thank you for your service in making people stop making jokes about the CA.

The problem is that people equate the Suckiness (:p) of SoCal with the rest of Cal, which is pure awesome.

But we don't have an NFL team. :( And the thing is, the Angels are located so far away from LA that it shouldn't even count ...

But we don't have an NFL team. :(

Soon you might. There is reportedly a brand new stadium going up in L.A., to attract a team to the area. Possibly the Raiders or Chargers.

I confess I have only been to California once (to see my brother graduate from UCSD). I have nothing against it. I wouldn't mind going there. As I said, I am heavily into baseball and I would totally love to spend a week or two there to see some Dodgers, Angels and possibly A's games.

Say what you like about the Dodgers, I've heard that Dodger *Stadium* is one of the best in the whole MLB. And now that the Rams have long since gone, Angel Stadium is no longer an ugly piece of shit. :p (don't believe me? Look at THIS! Fortunately, it's not like that anymore, it's now a nice baseball-only park again. linky)

Unfortunately I also did hear that the mass transit situation is, shall we say, less than ideal, so I don't know how I'd actually *get* to the ballparks. :p

I only got to the beach for one reason. Fresh local seafood. That could be any day of the year.

Sand and salt water with things living in it ain't that great.

California is awesome (especially Northern California!). In large part because I am here. So there.

California is great. Sacramento in particular.

I live here, so it's clearly the greatest place on Earth.

Or anywhere else.

:bolian:

The San Francisco Giants have AT&T Park which is plenty fantastic.

CA should be awesome, you certainly pay for the 'privledge' of living there.

I wouldn't have it any other way. Having lived in the North and the South, California is my forever home.

Unless I win the lottery.

Cali is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

I've been to San Fran a few times, beautiful place to visit.
