Forgive these blunt words but this is bullshit!
What he did was no "simple" slap to the face.. he has beaten her up! A face like that has to be hit multiple times really hard.. the way a guy fights another guy on the street.
Anyone who does this to another person needs professional help and certainly not from the person he has beaten up so bad. If he makes it through counselling and really has changed then maybe it may be time to get back together and not before that.
I've known women like that who went back to their guys (though none of them were beaten up). They were disrespected by their man, treated like shit and those were not dumb bimbos at all. Highly intelligent women, often beautiful but they kept coming back and you know what most of the time the reason was?
Low self esteem.. the notion that they won't find a better guy or that it wasn't so bad and they deserved it somehow. It is useless to talk them out of it.. lord knows i tried. They have to come to the conclusion themselves.. nothing else will work and in the case of Rihanna i hope she makes it fast and doesn't end up like Whitney Houston.

^More to the point, no matter how "retarded" she is, if she wants sex forget the batteries - she's Rihanna. There will be a queue of guys - hell, probably not just guys.

I know. She's a particularly imbecilic case because she has so much going for her that her decision defies any sort of logic. She's young. She's extremely pretty. She could have any guy she wanted for sex and I'm sure there are plenty who'd want to date her as well. She has tons of money and resources. She's talented with income potential and she doesn't have children weighing her down. She even has a daddy who appears to be involved in her life.
She's not someone who needs to run for her life because she has no options, no future, and no choices. She's not tied down with kids and no money. She has family. There's no reason for her to stay with this guy, but she loooooves him.
Thus my question, why do women put up with this? Why is looooove so important that it trumps your health and personal safety? You want someone who loves you, go to the pound and get a dog? He'll be devoted forever and all you have to do is give him dog food and water.

It just demonstrates that celebrities are normal people too with all their problems.. they just operate on a different financial and social scale (which contributes sometimes to their problems).

It's not just women, just look at Bear's thread in Misc... There's also men abused by women, men by men and women by women, whether physically, mentally or emotionally, and go back.
