What are you loosing? But again, that feeling of loosing something I've been really fond of for so many years, keeps creeping into my thoughts...![]()

I probably couldn't explain it to you so you'd understand, it's a just gut feeling I have.
You see this as a great new adventure, which I'm sure it will be for some...
But it won't be The Trek that I've enjoyed for over forty years.
Again, you're all gung-ho and see this as a good thing, I just happen to have reservations at this point.
They may ease once I actually see the movie, but they may not.
I know all about the fact that I won't be losing what has come already, (DVD's and such) but I find some of the changes that We have seen so for to be unnecessary and I believe that changing things just because one can changes things, isn't always a good thing.
I also believe that this movie is not really going to bring all these New Fan's that people are clamoring about we need to save the franchise.
I just don't see it happening, I think it's going to do more of a disservice to those of Us that have been loyal for so long.
That's just the way I feel about it and I'm not asking anybody to agree with me, so don't get all righteous and come back at me with reasons why I'm wrong...
I don't care.
I respect ure opinion, but its simple man....losing something uve been so fond of all these years....I think u should have a look around u, or should I say the last 7yrs - have we had any trek? have we had kirk? spock? or better still if ure worried about losing something u should go watch Nemesis and Insurrection with 4 seasons of Enterprise sprinkled in between; and to top off those wonderful memories start drooling over an autographed picture of Brannon Braga and Rick Berman -----only then should u start thinking about what has been lost.
Man the legacy of Star Trek has been put through the trash compactor in the last 8yrs, an absolute disaster, my memories of trek and what it stands for have been in ruins coz of the last 8yrs......We havent had trek since DS9 went off the air back in 99
This movie is our shot to get it right and to brink back trek into the fold like it never has before.....
With regards to bringing in the new fans.....its all about dollars whether trek is going to continue and I dont think the guys at Paramount care whether they're doing a service or not to us coz quite simply we DONT bring in the dollars for feature films....take a look at Nemesis on its opening week end....despite a big media promotion it only did 15mill bucks, beaten humiliatingly by maid in manhattan (WTF?!?)....15 mill is what hard core trekkers can bring to the box office, its sad but true, thats all that can be mustered by the hard core fan base...
So no wonder the media campaign for this film is based on getting new viewers but the word of mouth is working well, a lot of my non trekker friends are looking forward to see it mainly coz of the last trailer, they all said the car chase sequence really engaged their interest
