Star Trek new trailer description (Spoilers of course?)

StarTrek1701

Thanks to Trekmovie.com, we now have an exclusive new description of the new Star Trek trailer (trailer 4), which will be added in front of Watchmen next Friday (March 6th).

The new trailer starts off with a new shot of the young Chris Pine Kirk on motorcycle headed for the Enterprise being constructed. We then see more of the scene in the Iowa bar, with Pike (Bruce Greenwood) saying to Kirk "I couldn’t believe it when the bar tender told me who you are" and Kirk replying back with the "why are you talking to me man" line (seen in the Super Bowl commercial). Cut to image of studio logos.

My thoughts:

SHIT!! Vulcan implodes??

"James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was another life." < Reboot! Reboot! Yay!!

"I've been waiting for this my whole life." < Places the Countdown comics as non-canon then?

Torpedo cam?! F*ck yeah! :techman:

Whoa! blowing my mind away!
I just want this movie to come out already. But Nero's line about Kirk from another life... Though I doubt it will be the case I don't want them to focus too much on this being a different timeline. Though it could be a character thing, Kirk stepping up to become the Kirk the audience expects...

Anyway, torpedo cam!! :)
In the very least this film will have awesome battles

I'm sure this'll seem more exciting when I actually see it...

And I'll probably enjoy the final outcome on May 8th...

But again, that feeling of loosing something I've been really fond of for so many years, keeps creeping into my thoughts... :(

Cool, a torpedo cam...hopefully ILM went all out for this film, and from the looks of things so far they did.

Everything sounds great though. Color me excited.

What are you loosing?

I probably couldn't explain it to you so you'd understand, it's a just gut feeling I have.

You see this as a great new adventure, which I'm sure it will be for some...

But it won't be The Trek that I've enjoyed for over forty years.

Again, you're all gung-ho and see this as a good thing, I just happen to have reservations at this point.

They may ease once I actually see the movie, but they may not.

I know all about the fact that I won't be losing what has come already, (DVD's and such) but I find some of the changes that We have seen so for to be unnecessary and I believe that changing things just because one can changes things, isn't always a good thing.

I also believe that this movie is not really going to bring all these New Fan's that people are clamoring about we need to save the franchise.

I just don't see it happening, I think it's going to do more of a disservice to those of Us that have been loyal for so long.

That's just the way I feel about it and I'm not asking anybody to agree with me, so don't get all righteous and come back at me with reasons why I'm wrong...

I don't care.

[...], so don't get all righteous and come back at me with reasons why I'm wrong...
I won't, as I respect your opinion. It's just that I don't understand how anything could possibly take away the entertainment value of the countless hours of Trek we already have. But maybe that's just the way I look at it. :)

By the way, can't wait to see the trailer! The description sounds exciting.

Dennis, where exactly do you see the parallels to Battlestar Galactica? Not that I would have a problem with that. On the contrary ... ;)

^ Why does JJ keep putting his penis in peoples childhoods? :(

Why do some people have to be so anal and condescending about other people feelings?

Hah, he said "anal" in a discussion about raping childhoods.

Seriously though, dude. Calm down, nobody is losing anything, nothing is changing. The new movie will only add to Trek, not erase or modify anything that has come before. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

This all coming from the guy with this signature?

You can complain all ya want & ignore it if ya wish, but once it hits the big screen's in May '09...

It's an Official Part of Trek Lore.

My Signature states a fact...

It doesn't state my feelings about that fact, and my stated feelings in no way allude to the fact that it is or isn't going to be an Official Part of the Lore of Trek.

My stated feelings allude to the fact that I may or may not be happy with the final outcome once I see the movie.

I am sitting on the proverbial fence at the moment, leaning slightly toward the not being happy with all the changes.

I'm not saying that I already dislike the movie and that I believe it won't be an Official part of Star Trek.

I'm saying that my gut feeling at this point, is making me uncomfortable with all the drastic changes We have seen.

I don't believe that all of them were/are necessary for this to be a great Trek movie.

BTW: My underwear are not now nor were they ever, in a snit.

I've Highlighted a sentance in my above post...

Why do some feel it's necessary to restate over and over again the obvious, when I've already indicated that I realize that I will always have what's already been produced.

My gut feeling of a sense of loss is Toward The Future, Not The Past.

Do some find that so hard to comprehend around here or are they just being blatantly obtrusive?

And again I ask, why do some people have to be so condescending toward other's differing feelings/opinions?
