I agree with I Am Not Spock!

TFF was just a decent movie absolutely screwed by Hollywood politics.

Nemesis was just utter bull**** spread thin on crap toast and left to dry.

See, I don't think TFF is THAT appalling. At least it has a germ of a decent story in there, and there are some worthwhile Kirk/McCoy/Spock scenes. It feels more like TOS than some of the other movies.

Whereas Nemesis represents pretty much a complete character assassination of all of TNG's cast, directed by a guy who didn't know, and couldn't be bothered even researching, the source material. It is for this reason that I feel compelled to vote for Nemesis.

Those who be my reasons for loving TFF and despising Nemesis, respectively.

There were only nine films so I voted for the phantom tenth: Nem...Neme...ugh I can't even type the name of that #@%*.

I voted for First Contact. Never liked that one.

Hear hear.

True, I voted for Insurrection, because it was indeed the worst of the ten (Nemesis was almost as stupid but not half as boring); however, First Contact probably had a more deleterious effect on the storytelling possibilities of the franchise than any other.

Then again, one look at the Romulan Empire in the novels makes me second guess myself on that.

Maybe I should've voted for FC or NEM. At least all Insurrection ruined was the Son'a. :p

And damnit, I liked Final Frontier. :(

First Cataract wasn't a film. It was a series of very expensive sketches tenuously strung together with lame music and terrible pacing.

I have to vote for Nemesis. As dodgy as TFF was in places, it did at least have the decency to treat the concept and source material with some semblance of respect, and there were some really nice character moments. Also, some of the sets were lovely - particularly the bridge and the officer's lounge.

Nemesis on the other hand was just a complete hatchet job from start to finish. The music was terrible, the sets were dull and cheap looking (did they really spend $60 million making it?), and the story was an insipid, uninspired rehash of TWOK, written mainly to appease Brent Spiner's annoying pretensions of theatricality. In short, utter drivel!

The only area where I can see Nemesis having an advantage over TFF is in visual effects, and even those weren't quite up to the standards ILM provided in the majority of Star Trek's other theatrical adventures.

Yeah, TFF is my least favorite classic cast movie. But it's still head and shoulders above INS and NEM in terms of story, heart and intentions even if the execution and effects were lousy. TFF had heart and great Troika character interaction.

TFF. That was not a science fiction movie. It wasn't even a fantasy movie. It was... I don't know what it was...

^Insurrection was the first Trek film that really felt like a direct to video B grader. It wasn't only just a two-part TNG ep, but it wouldn't have even been a very good two part TV episode.

None, they are all Trek and awesome.:)

Nemesis is my favorite and The Voyage Home least.

But that's just which one I would watch the most
or least, none of them are lacking in anyway.

The Final Frontier. The film that taught me the true meaning of the word facepalm.

*goes to Deck 78* :shifty:

Ugly new Enterprise: Check
Ruining the Borg: Check
Jean-Luc Picard - Action Hero!!! - Check

I think First Contact was the beginning of the end for Modern Trek. They forgot what made TNG popular to begin with.

I love this guy. Aside from placement of favorite, I agree 100%.

INSURRECTION could have been a two-part DS9 episode with the TNG cast as sweeps-month guest stars, considering that Worf is in it, DS9 is mentioned at least once and even Quark and dabo girls showed up at the end in a deleted sequence that never made the final cut.
