The way they were playing, a Celtics/Lakers rematch in the Finals was a definite possibility, almost probably. Without Bynum, the odds are far less, but after all... they made it to the finals last year without him, so ...
But how long has Roy been back from his injury? That kind of shooting is more than a little atypical for him.
Kobe put up his what ..... 6 or 7th game of 60+ points? Wow.....
That really is bad luck whats happening why Bynum and the Lakers. However, I think it woke Kobe up because he went for a MSG record 61. Even though I'm not too big on Kobe, it's hard not to admit now that he is the best player in the game, at least in the western conference. I hope Paul is alright though. The Hornets can't afford to lose him for any langth of time.
I'm not sure if it's a case of Kobe "waking up". He's been having a good all-around season so far. My concern would be that he keeps mindful of the rest of the team and that they don't resort to letting Kobe do it all. Really... I don't think that will happen here. Gasol had 30+ that night I think. And the team is older and wiser, so that will help keep them from slipping into bad habits.
The Blazers are at Dallas tonight. It will be interesting to see how they do against another strong team on the road. Winning at home is all well and good, but really good teams beat other good teams on the road.

And still young enough it ought to be catching the attention of EVERY team in the league. With the right guiding hand for this great core of talent and personality, the Blazers could be challenging for dominance of the West very soon. Oden needs a little more experience and maybe some work on his stamina, but he's coming along. We already know what Roy and Aldridge can do, but with a bit more experience, I can see this team in the same breath as the Spurs and the Lakers when it comes to the playoffs.
Anyone see the really close game between the Sixers and Celtics today (one point win by the Celtics)? I know the Sixers really aren't in the same league as Boston right now, but it would be nice to see that rivalry return to its traditional strength.
Interesting decision for Popovich to sit Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili for the entire game against the Nuggets. Yes, they were coming off an OT back-to-back, but it isn't like the Spurs to give games away (even if their performance does suffer on the tail end of back-to-backs). But the Spurs' subs actually kept the game close. And Popovich seemed happy with the loss, while Karl seemed upset with the win.
Yeah, that was an amazing game. My thought is that it with two teams who are that good, it couldn't end any other way.
Last season in the second game against the Celts, the Lakers had everything going for them, they were completely healthy (including Andrew), they were at home, they had the revenge factor going (Celts had won the first one), and it was a marquee game. Not only did they lose, the Celts routed them.
This season going into the second meeting between the two, it was the Celts who had it all going for them. They were at home, they were rested, the Lakers were on the second game of a back to back, they had the revenge factor going, marquee game, no Bynum, and this time the Lakers win.
This season it is the Celts who have the match-up problems against the Lakers. The C's need to make a move. They need size and scoring. Frankly I hope they do pick up Marbury, not because he would be a disruption -- I don't think he would be -- but because he's not big and doesn't play defense. The last thing I want to see the Celts acquire is big man who can defend and rebound.

The Celtics are clearly top three in the league and heads and shoulders above the rest of the teams. In an NBA where the salary cap restricts most movements, that's pretty impressive. They lost by a point. I don't think they should worry too much about major shake ups at this point, since they could backfire.
If they are interested in winning another championship, they'd better attempt to get some help or start praying Andrew Bynum is done for the season and the Lakers don't get back to the Finals, not to mention asking for some devine intervention in the Cavs' future.
Because the Celts are simply not the team this year that they were last season and both the Lakers and Cavs are improved both personel-wise and mentally (the Lakers moreso than the Cavs, IMO).
