If you could go back in time....

I have four times I'd like to visit, and two of them for selfish, non-historical reasons (kind of).

-The Roaring 20s, to see just how fun they really were.

-At the end of the last Ice Age, just so I could see what it all looked like.

-The 1960s so I could meet Nichelle Nichols when she was younger and oh so fine. I'd woo her and try to win her!

-And 30 years ago, 1979, when I was 17 and about to make plans to go to college, etc. I'd tell myself all the things not to do to try and change my current life, like trying to date a certain young woman from my high school. I'd also tell myself not to go to college in NY, but go to California, study a different major, and add a few other pieces of advice for the younger me.

Red Ranger

There's plenty of time periods I'd like to visit, mostly the dinosaur and Ice Age eras. But no matter what period I'd visit, I'd only go if I could take a modern bathroom with me! :D

1979 and then live through the 80s. Be a part of the music and club scene, start a rock band and make 80s movies.

History's nice and all, but I want to live the 80s at my this age.

That sounds good to me. Can I come with? I was born in 89 so I missed all the good stuff :(

I was born in 1973. My parents were both hippies. And I guess partially because of their influence in music, etc., I've always been extremely fascinated with the 1960's. I love so many aspects of what I know of that time; the music, the clothes, the passion people seemed to have. I know that we tend to romanticize things sometimes but I think I would truly have loved to have been at the college age round about 1968 or so.

.....except for the whole drugs thing.

I'd like to watch them build Stonehenge, and find out what it was really for. I'd quite like to try living in a prehistoric roundhouse for a few days, too. And I'd love to go right back to ancient Sumer and experience their wonderful religions first hand.

Id also like to go back to Cicero's time. Ancient civs has always been of interested to me, and Cicero has always been one of my favourite political figures.

Freshman year of High School...and intentionally alter the timeline from that point onward.

I dare say I'd like to explore some of Ancient Rome. I'd also like to go to 1776, see America come to life-- then jump to the the late 60s/early 70s and check out the social movement of the time.

Sweet, I got an 80s buddy and ancient rome buddy now :D

There are a couple of times I'd like to go back to. I was born in the mid 60s and I'd really like to go back to the early to mid 60s. I'd love to experience the world back then - the entertainment, the shops, the transport, the attitude to women and minorities. I'd also like to go back to Elizabethan times. I'd love to wear the clothes, be a member of the court, that kind of thing. I'd only like to visit, mind. No being stuck there with no way to get back to the internet and my modern freedoms.

There are a few times I'd like to visit. First of all, I'd like to visit the 40s and 50s to see Mom as a youngster and to see what it was like back then.
Then I'd go to the year of 1992 to when I was in middle school, and would change history. Back then I was really meek and had no backbone whatsoever, so I'd try to change that. I'd go back to the day I was threatened by a student and would beat the hell out of her and demand she'd return my things to me PRONTO!
Then, I'd go to High School and see what those consequences insued me for those days. :)

^^ Yep, it would be rather interesting to meet your parents in their prime while you're an adult. And meeting yourself in all your gloriously youthful stupidity would be kind of interesting too.

I hear you. The 80s were so fun as a child. I'd want to see what it's like to live them as an adult. Probably not as fun, but should be interesting.

Ancient Rome, I think.

Or late Victorian or Edwardian London.

The decadence & social melee/contrasts of both eras appeals to me.

Wouldn't want to actually live in either of those places though, just have a holiday for a few weeks or so. :D

The big problem I have with going too far back is the reality of war, famine, pestilence and diseases that we no longer have that were pretty deadly at various points in history.

Seems like it would be too hazardous...1950's are as far back as I would be willing to go...
