Re: Knight Rider - 1x12 "Knight to King's Pawn" - Discussion and Spoil

Sigh.

That episode was a let down. With so much build-up I expected so much more from this epiosde and the battle between KITT and KARR.

Seriously, the original, FIRST episode with KARR in it was far better, far more climatic and had good battle of "the witts" between KARR and KITT as brothers.

Sigh.

I hope the "reboot" works out.
This episode sucked donkey balls after months of expectations. Fuck.

Danger! Danger Michael Knight!

Re: Knight Rider - 1x12 "Knight to King's Pawn" - Discussion and Spoil

It left me both satisfied and disappointed at the same time. I would have liked to have a bit more background on both KARR and why Knight industries and FLAG went dormant. Short as it was, that battle between KARRmus Prime and KITT was pretty cool.

Re: Knight Rider - 1x12 "Knight to King's Pawn" - Discussion and Spoil

^ I think that was answered in the episode by the hologram (in a sense). The United States Government became involved with the project and FLAG essentially became the SSC. Or at least that was how I took it.

So now that they aren't government funded who will be KITT's insurance carrier?

Re: Knight Rider - 1x12 "Knight to King's Pawn" - Discussion and Spoil

Well that was a whimper of an ending. Smallville to the tee.

Why did KARR call him Michael Knight? He wouldn't have been Knight back then. And if he was the original driver, does this mean this wasn't KARR v1.0? Is this KITT supposed to be the same KITT since they don't refer to any other one?

Also, aren't they technically fugitives now since they let Sentinel live and he knows they took KITT?

Well I saw it this way, since they stuck KITT's CPU into KARR I gathered that all of his memories would have been based from those belonging to KITT, only his personality would be unchanged hence his aggressive nature.

Re: Knight Rider - 1x12 "Knight to King's Pawn" - Discussion and Spoil

Well that was weird. I actually thought I was watching a really good buildup toward a big KITT/KARR showdown next week... and then the whole thing flashed by in the last 5 minutes and KARR got destroyed.

What the hell???

That said, I have to admit those 5 minutes WERE pretty cool. Seeing the Mustang with the yellow scanner (wasn't expecting that), seeing Ski Mode used again, hearing some of the old KARR lines...

I really can't decide if this show recognizes the original or purposely tries to ignore it. I'm so confused. I think Team Knight Rider gave more respect to the original than this show does.

In one episode we had mention of Knight Industries, FLAG, Wilton Knight and KARR. I'd say it's safe to say it recognizes it.

I wish Gary Scott would resist his urges to go and be a little kid, the whole X Box thing was so lame, not too mention NBC talk about desperate advertising :p Battle was too short but thats because of NBC's budget cuts I think, the show is getting better as it goes on but will still get canned because of the lame ass bits that put people off.

I think the show is finally where it should have been from the beginning . . .

Except that KITT and KARR never apparently existed before, unless you want to believe Gaiman decided to create a new KARR in exactly the same fashion with exactly the same flaws as the original. Which is just absurd especially after his holier-than-thou Jedi ghost preaching in this pathetically embarrassing episode.

They can throw all the names around they want, it doesn't mean this show respects or truly recognizes in any way the original series. Which in itself isn't a good or bad thing. But the way they are handling it? It's a complete cluster fuck of nonsense and absurdity.

Peter Cullen has the coolest voice ever.

Re: Knight Rider - 1x12 "Knight to King's Pawn" - Discussion and Spoil

It was a mixed bag. We had Sarah looking incredibly hot, Mike kicking major ass and the return of KARR. But the fact that they had the budget to only have KARR on screen for a minute and then be so easily defeated was a major let down. The shift to busting up bank robberies will be even more of a let down next week. I see the end coming soon.

At least we got to say goodbye to Obi-Wan Graiman.

It still irks me that the Three Thousand is all voice controlled and there are no buttons. Which is quicker, pushing a button to deploy the grappling hook or shouting the command? The same holds true for turbo boost, ski mode, and every other feature.

Sorry, but they dropped the ball from the very beginning. The only original and "realistic" feature was the camouflage morphing in the TV movie.

Re: Knight Rider - 1x12 "Knight to King's Pawn" - Discussion and Spoil

It looks like FLAG's reactivation is being saved for the season finale, with episode thirteen being held back and several episodes following it airing out of order. Next week's episode is "Exit Light, Enter Knight", which according to most sources was the originally intended season finale

Either NBC have fucked up thinking the standalone format applies to every episode beyond this week's instalment, or we might be in for a surprise followed by a piss-poor resolution tacked on to a standalone that follows it (something similar occured with Sliders)

If the US Government ordered the creation or repair of KARR and he was under contract he would have to complete the construction of KARR regardless. I think that the only reason he was able to keep it down and get them to build KITT was because of what it had done (and the Government wanted a more stable platform - KITT - from which to prepare KARR's functions).

Depends on how far the button is, how long you have to look for it, and how easy it is to push the wrong button once you've identified it.

Further there's a safety issue: if you have to look down to identify one button amongst a whole lot of them, your eyes are not out the window; where you're in a big battle or whatever it is that needed the turbo boost. Not a very good idea.

Michael Knight never had a problem with buttons in TOS ;)
