Is Odo a badass?

How tough is Odo? I mean he can shapeshift an all, but has he demonstrated that in combat alot? One scene in DS9 I always wanted to see was Odo confront like three perps and they think they have the advantage then all of a sudden Odo transforms into like a big crazy beast monster thing and rips them to shreads (not too violently though because this is Star Trek).

But I never saw Odo do that. He doesn't carry a phaser so he doesn't shoot people or at least shoot and try to hit someone...YES Worf I am talking to you!...

But has Odo kicked butt? Who would win...?

Odo vs Worf w/Batt'leth (Blood Oath)

Odo vs Garak in full OO mode w/toys

Odo vs 5 armed Romulan Security Guards

Odo vs MU Spock

Any fight can go either way with Odo...

I don't know, I always liked Odo I just wish he kicked more behind

He did something like that in "To The Death" when he need to take out some Jem'Hadar.

The thing with Odo is that he hated killing. Remember that the first person he ever killed was a fellow changeling. Odo is badass enough he could take on a large group and incapacitate them without killing them.

I gotta say no. Glass jaw. O'Brien knocked him out so easily.

Not to mention he couldn't even take Quark, or if he could, then not by much.

Not to mention hiding behind Kira when the Hunters came aboard.

Odo would have been great as a badass character who goes T-1000 type of saw limbs (like Laas did, incidentally) on the butts of all intruders. Shame they didn't write him like that. It would have fit his personality. This is a writing failing, not an acting failing.

Odo is a crotchety badass. He prefers investigating and putting together all the facts to apprehend suspects. Remember he doesn't believe in using guns/phasers, kind of like a London constable (hence, the nickname).

There were a number of times he did kick ass, but just using his humanoid form. In The Search, when the Jem'Hadar board the Defiant, he kicked some of their butts handily. And in The Way of the Warrior, you saw him kicking Klingon ass quite handily, even those using bat'leths.

What's funny is that the actor who plays Odo, Rene Auberjonios, was never cast as a kick-ass character before Odo. So I thought he did a good job of portraying a quite physical character. :techman:

I saw Odo as the kind who used his smarts to get one over on those he was up against; as for actual fighting technique, I'm not sure he really gave that a lot of thought until he got into situations.

Plus also...that wasn't Odo's first killing. He was also responsible, through inaction, for the deaths of those Bajorans--so that may also have given him some reticence about using lethal force.

The confusing thing I found about Odo is that he could beat up multiple Jem'Hadar, intimidate Klingons (sometimes) etc. But... he was knocked out by a rock once... he's not a human etc. That kinda puzzled me... especially after that Jem'Hadar jumped through him later and went sprawling on the floor...

But I think thats it- he doesn't want to kill, he won't use a phaser, but in hand to hand he has the advantage and can take people out. And once he turned into an evil cloud.

But... he was knocked out by a rock once....

This has to be indicative of the extent to which a shapeshifter takes on the characteristics of its chosen form. When human, Odo has human capabilities ... and their commensurate frailties.

But you wouldn't think he'd have a real nervous system, he doesn't even need to eat or breathe... but maybe the shock kinda knocks his hold on the cells?

If Odo doesn't shapeshift, Worf will kill him quickly. Garak will kick his ass.

DS9 badasses:

1) Worf
2) Sisko
3) Kira
4) Dax (Jadzia)
5) Garak
6) Dukat
7) Odo

You're putting Odo below Jadzia and Kira?

And none of those but #7 ever turned into a homicidal black cloud.

Worf... Worf just...

Absolutely he is, yes.

I love that scene in Emissary, where that fleeing thug throws a morning star mace thingy at him, and he morphs his head into 'orange goo' mode, as the weapon harmlessly sails through him.

The big animal thing he turns into in 'To the Death' ruled as well. Odo pwns.

IMO he got his fill of violence while he was working for the Cardissians, and he did send some innocent people to their death in "Things Past"
If push came to shove I believe that Odo would use leathel force to protect the station, "Way of the Warrior". I assume that he would rather
just subdue them, then hurt/kill them...
