"To clean up any crumbs"- Yeah, as if anyone here buys that story

Yes but only if the bed is made. A dustbuster is on hand to clean up any crumbs.
Pretty much the only place I eat.
My bed is like my living room and I've always hated
the idea of being confined to a table to eat.![]()
I am eating in bed at this very moment. Though I am being very naughty. I'm trying to break my habits of doing other things in bed besides sleeping -- it's supposed to help with my insomnia.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I've been struggling with severe insomnia for more than ten years (since I was about 12); I've tried just about everything. If I get out of bed, I'll stay out of bed. I've gone more than 7 days straight without sleep, and on an average night it takes me 2-3 hours of tossing and turning before I get anywhere near dozing off. I've tried just about every little trick. What's really starting to work -- if only a little so far, is a combination of a half-dozen rigorous sleep hygiene rules and medication. I think it'd really help if my writing/illustration took off and I could make my own hours; my body just seems to be made for going to bed at 4am and waking up at 1pm.I am eating in bed at this very moment. I was once told, if you can't sleep, then get out of bed and sit somewhere really uncomfortable, like on a hard surface, on something angular, or raised high enough off the ground that your feet don't touch the floor. Then force yourself to sit there for 10 minutes without standing up. Watch the clock. Make sure it is ten minutes and not a second sooner. After that you're supposed to be able to fall asleep.
As I don't suffer with insomnia I've never tried it. But it might work for you![]()
Same with me! At least before adopting my sleep hygiene rules. Actually, I think the No Hanging Out in Bed rule has had the greatest effect on my insomnia. Once I stopped hanging out in bed, my sleeping almost instantly became better -- I'd fall asleep within 30 minutes to an hour after going to bed, as opposed to 2-4 hours. No wonder I have insomnia-- I do everything in bed.![]()
Maybe I should try the No Hanging Out rule-- although it would involve breaking the habits of a lifetime-- but my problem isn't falling asleep, which I can do almost instantly, it's waking up too early.Same with me! I rarely wake in the night, and almost always I can fall asleep again immediately. Its just the getting to sleep that's hard for me. I'm guessing that the two problems have different causes, but maybe the sleep hygiene rules that are helping me may help you nonetheless.Maybe I should try the No Hanging Out rule-- although it would involve breaking the habits of a lifetime-- but my problem isn't falling asleep, which I can do almost instantly, it's waking up too early.Same with me! I do that.-Go to bed and get up at the same times each day (I vary my bedtime and wake up time by only an hour to an hour and a half).
Argh.-Do nothing in bed but sleep.
* Weeps. *-No caffeine after 2pm.
I can probably work that into my schedule.-Don't exercise for a few hours before bed.
? Some sort of interpretive dance or something...?-Follow a bedtime routine.
No more Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts?-Recognize how different foods affect your energy and don't eat sugary, or other energizing foods in the three hours before bedtime.
The cure may be worse than the disease....Those are my rules, and, cynic though I am, I have to admit they're doing wonders.
