You are thinking of Enab, from the War and Madness storyline, toward the end of DC's run of regular TNG comics.

 

I'm looking forward to Countdown of course, Star Trek Mission's End, and the adaption of the Wrath of Khan which I first learned about from last month's Wizard. It looks like a great year for IDW.

 

Interesting. Assuming the 1000 Stardates per year rule applies, Countdown begins in 2386, as the stardate on page 1 is 64333.4. So, five years after Destiny.

 

Actually 64333.4 would be May 2, 2387 by the assumptions used in the books and by the online stardate calculator.

 

This is what happens when I work from memory. I had it in my mind that TNG's first season was 2363/41xxx, which lead me to a scribbled calculation of 2386/64xxx.

 

^^TNG's first season was actually 2364. At least "The Neutral Zone" was, and the tendency is to assume that the seasons are contiguous with calendar years.

 

I always wondered why this was the case. Whose to say that The Neutral Zone, the last episode of season 1, didn't happen in January 2364? Do they ever say the calendar year on screen again? I can't really remember any other times. Maybe KRAD can grace us with one of his lists

That was the only time we got the Gregorian calendar during the stardate era (which would be TOS and beyond).

 

No, there were other references to the Gregorian year in later episodes. For instance, in "The 37s," Janeway told Amelia Earhart that it was 2371.

 

And Neelix's controversial celebration of the 315th anniversary of First Contact.

 

Which episode did Neelix say it? I can't remember...was it in the seventh season?

That was in "Homestead," which was near the end of the final season and would thus probably be late in the year, but was said to be an anniversary of an event that canonically happened in early April.

Which I rationalize by assuming that Neelix was just using a different calendar from ours. Which is why I threw in a line in Places of Exile where Neelix says something to the effect that using multiple calendars provides multiple excuses to celebrate the same event.

 

Thanks. I guess that's why the final 2 or 3 episodes of voyager season 7 are considered to be in 2378.
