I hate to admit it...but yes... I do. It's a trainwreck full of trashy women and...it's just hard to resist!
I watched one episode once and couldn't stand it. The Soup does a pretty good job of relaying the best parts, so I just rely on that.
I am quite open to reality TV, but this is one show that even I don't watch. Most of the VH1 and MTV shows are trashy love connection shows so I don't watch them. Not because they're trashy necessarily, just because I don't like these types of shows. I don't watch the Batchelor either. I'm not a fan of the romance and courting stuff. I thought it was interesting that last season one of the girls was previously on the show Beauty and the Geek. She seemed so innocent and cute there...and then she went on this show and was a total slut. It was to be expected, but it was still odd. And I find it funny how some people seem to make a career out of going on different reality shows. Wow, while looking up some info on her name I found this article: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/ilovetowatch/beauty-and-the-geek/ It's even worse than I had imagined!
Yeah, they are really just actors of a sort... I don't know if any of this is based on "reality"...sure doesn't match my concept of "reality"...
Some struggling actors have been turning to reality series to gain attention and make a quick buck. Producer in turn probably love getting actors because there's an expectation that they can ad lib some great stories, purposely creating drama and memorable moments that make reality tv so compelling to most of their viewers. There was a girl a couple years ago who auditioned for American Idol and made it seem like she was totally off her rocker. I think her name was Mary. In truth, she's an relatively sane actress/comedienne who was hamming it up big time. The 5 minutes on AI gave her national attention and she incorporated the experience into her stand-up act, getting a lot of mileage out of the story. Didn't one of the Survivor contestants move on to several acting gigs after her season was finished, too? Apparently, it was how she'd hoped it would work out all along. Get her name known to a national audience and then use that popularity get other gigs.
^Reminds me of Elizabeth Hasselbeck. She was on the second season of Survivor and look where she is now, always in the news for some argument she got in on The View. There are a couple of others who have done some acting, but it doesn't surprise me. I think some of these people go into these shows hoping to break into show business, but I think others come out of the experience realizing that they can make some great money by doing promotions and appearances, and if they have the skills that may even lead to some acting gigs. If people are willing to book you and you desire the money, why not? But like I said there are some who's only goal in going on these shows is to further their acting career. It's kind of silly, but whatever. I don't have any illusions about the "reality" of "reality TV." I've been saying for a long while now that "reality TV" is a horrible term for the genre, and that they should be categorized more as "dramatic game shows" or something similar. A lot of people say that they don't like reality TV because it's not actually real, but I don't see why that changes anything. As long as it's entertaining I don't care if they are acting or not.
Seconded. Who cares if a TV show is partly staged or not? Are Lost, BSG, Dr. Who, Star Trek, etc., all documentary shows or something? All that matters is if the TV show is entertaining or not.
...that's drunken trashy strippers... There's only like...hmmm...I dunno...TWO of these chicks I *might* want to touch if I were totally inebriated. But 99% of them look skanky. But, I'm with you guys...I don't care if it's partly staged or not...it's good way to waste some time and get a good laugh!
Some might feel bad for Bret Michaels because this is what is career is now. I don't. This is basically what his music was in a nutshell. A trashy, low rent, peroxide-fueled, unintentionally self-parodying, nightmare. Now he's being forced to live it rather then sing god awful songs about it. A fitting punishment for the guy who unleashed Poison on us.
