Picard - if I had to entrust my life to anyone he is the one I would want in my corner.

the fact that he liberated his planet when he was still in his teens, he doesn't take shit from anyone, he can knock people out with one punch and he's got a wicked cool scar. and purple eyes.

oh, and he once threatened an enemy with 'execution by torpedo barrage' for taking hostages.

In order of my preference, from most-liked to least:

Spock of Vulcan
James T. Kirk
Sara Chandler (U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-170100 - my fanfic ;))
Ben Sisko
Mac Calhoun
Hikaru Sulu
Jean-Luc Picard
Jon Archer
Morgan Bateson
Gul Dukat
Kurn, son of Mogh
John Harriman
Rachel Garrett
Erika Hernandez
Kang
Kor, son of Rynar
Koloth
Matt Decker
Styles (of the Excelsior, ST:III)
Chris Pike
DaiMon Bok
Clark Terrell
Robert April
Will Decker
Any miscellaneous captains, guls, daimons, etc, that I may not have mentioned other than those below.
Will Riker
Kathryn Janeway

^^^ I'm not a fan of Janeway, but come on, Harriman is ahead of her?
NONE of the rest of those captains ever locked themselves in their quarters in self-indulgent depression for the better part of a year, while their crew suffered hideous setback after setback. I don't care if it "never happened now" because Chakotay undid the "Year of Hell" with temporal monkey business. She's still the sort of person who would do that, even if she "hasn't" now. She needs to be shown an airlock door, in a bad way. Admiral Janeway. :angryrazz:

Harriman was just caught off-guard, ill-equipped, and a little star-struck in the presence of men who had literally saved the entire universe multiple times. If they had been launching their actual mission, I feel sure he'd have been better.

Kirk
Sisko
Picard...
...and I like all three (though I'm lukewarm on TNG as a whole).

Don't care ablout Archer or Janeway enough to rank them relative to each other (much as I feel about their respective shows) and Harriman--like Pike and Garrett et al.--wasn't on screen long enough for me to judge.

1). Christopher Pike.
2). Willard Decker.
3). James T. Kirk.

The rest need not apply. :)

Hm, interesting list. Is this your order of preference? If so, why Decker ahead of Kirk? Because of some quality Decker possessed, or something Kirk lacked?

As a kid I had a huge ***NON-SEXUAL!!!*** mancrush on Stephen Collins that I never had on William Shatner.

John Sheridan... just kidding. James Tiberus Kirk, of course. Besides, I much prefer Sinclair over John "Nuke 'em" Sheridan. Kirk still wins hands down.

Which captain is your favourite?

Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

I'm going to have to say Picard. Diplomat and scholar wins in my book any day.

And they even made it cool to be smart! Wow!

Baci: We reach! Yes, even though Kirk is a close second IMO, I like Picard's hard-edged intelligence, too. Must agree that why Harriman was included and not Pike is a miscarriage of justice! If Harriman was included, why not Rachel Garrett, too? -- RR
