Archer. Just because.
Kirk: Too '60s hero.
Picard: A bit of a stiff.
Sisko: Like him.
Janeway: FINALLY, a female captain in a regular role.

Where's Captain Spock?

Harriman? :wtf: Poor Jeffrey Hunter, he has been forgotten and replaced by Harriman, Star Trek's most incompetent captain.

As for my answer: THE SISKO

Why do people keep saying Harriman was incompetent? Just because Kirk died?
Also, the poll forgot Rachel Garrett...

Oh well. My favorite captain: Archer.

I'm going to have to say Picard. Diplomat and scholar wins in my book any day.

And they even made it cool to be smart! Wow!

Kirk or Picard, for different reasons. I could believe Picard as the guy in charge of a ship that size - Kirk, never. But Kirk was more fun. ;)

The longer a campain was on the air the more their self important characters got on my nerves. This reached a hight in season seven of DS9. For this reason I pick Kirk. He was only on 3 season and a few movies.

Here are my opinions, without number rankings:

Kirk - the classic; lets hope the new movie doesnt kill the legend

Picard - smartest, most sophisticated; definitely the Sean Connery James Bond of the Trek franchise (Connery is the best Bond HANDS DOWN! nuff said)

Sisko - absolute coolest; like Mace Windu was the baddest ass Jedi Master

Janeway - best ta tas  but too damn liberal

Archer - best dog, biggest creeper doc; hottest first officer and communications officer

Harriman - victim of poor dialogue and obligatory 'lets make Kirk look heroic and any other Federation officer look like a buffoon" scriptwriting

Garrett - kicked ass heroism for 1 appearance

Pike - wife loves Jeffery Hunter's blue eyes; gets extra points for making time with the original Orion slave girl :techman:

April - deserves more than an animated episode; when I heard the Enterprise concept, I hoped the series would focus on his career.

Which captain is your favourite?

1. Kirk. I have never been told what's wrong with saving the galaxy and getting the space babe every week. In addition, he's the one who started it all. :vulcan:

2. Sisko. A very close second, the head honcho of Deep Space NIne actually changed over his seven-year stint. In "Emissary," he was totally self-absorbed due to the death of his wife. By "What You Leave Behind," he defeated his enemies by being totally selfless and sacrificing himself for the greater good.:cardie:

3. Archer. I always liked the characters even though they didn't have interesting things to until the final two seasons. I also was sad that the crew didn't get to seven seasons.:alienblush:

4. Janeway. Voyager was the most technically advanced series, but the captain always had her hair pulled back until she looked like a school marm. Once she let her hair down, the stories got better. What can I say?:borg:

5. Harriman. While he didn't have a lot to do in Generations, I thought he was great in "Of Gods and Men.":klingon:

6. Picard. An unpleasant old coot when TNG began, and not much better throughout the series and the movies.

What no Capt Ransom? he got his smaller, slower, fewer weapons, fewer crewmembers half of whom were killed the first week in the DQ, no food, no nothing. And he got as far as Voyager did with far fewer resources. I'm not saying he's the best Capt but I think he does deserve to be mentioned in the list...
