Carrie Fisher wishes she turned down Star Wars.

Yes, Carrie...

I'm sure your life would have been much better without SW, and you certainly wouldn't have done any drugs then!

I wish everyone had turned down Star Wars.

An entire generation was warped by that movie series.

If it wasn't for Star Wars, you guys would be worshipping at the feet of Dino De Laurentis and Sam J. Jones for Flash Gordon as the heir apparent to the throne which Mark Hamill is most famous for.

And, Indiana Jones would have been portrayed by Tom Selleck.
Indiana Jones might not even be if not for Star Wars and ILM.

the special EFX in way over half the films made in the US wouldn't be without Star Wars and that includes all the Trek shows and films this board was created to talk about.

I don't think ILM had anything to do with the effects for Star Trek (1966-1969). ;)

Is that Carrie Fisher?

That can't be Carrie Fisher.

She was the nun in the car in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back only a few years ago. She didn't look like that.
she looks better in the actual video, the screencap caught her worst angle. still, there's no question she's put on substantial weight within the past year. my guess would be the stress of the biography pushed her towards depression. I do not envy her at all.

And she's also been touring doing her one-woman show...

It didn't help that the way she was sitting in that chair I couldn't help but think of Jabba.

Oh puh-leeze!

I wish she'd get off her pitty-potty.

I hate it when these celebs poop all over their success.

She looks more like Jabba now than Princess Leia. I mean, what happened? Last thing I saw her in was Jay and Silent Bob...and she looked older but decent for her age.

Now she's Jabba.

Sad.

Yeah, God forbid a 50 year old woman has the gall to put on a few pounds and wax cynically about her youth. I mean, I am really damned sure every person posting on this site is the paragon of human fitness and health.

It always amazes me when(mostly)males seem to actually get offended when a woman dares to not watch her weight. They act almost as if it is an affront to them, as if "How dare she not keep herself in peak physical attractiveness - doesn't she know I might want to look at her for sexual gratification?!?"

Get over yourself children. Grow up and realize that SHE has and has gotten older. Age happens to all of us, as it will for your sorry arses too one day. If you aren't already 300 pounds, wiping the chicken grease from your exposed bellies while you ogle porn in your parents' basements, you probably WILL be one day.

So Carrie Fisher got a little overweight. Deal with it and move the fuck on.

I agree; however, we live in a society where Baby Boomers are trying to fight aging tooth and nail. IMHO, that makes a person look a thousand times worse (ie. Botox). Me? I'm almost 40 and plan on accepting it as it comes.

Carrie Fisher suffers from a severe bipolar disorder, is a pretty short and half-Jewish (who tend to put on weight easily), and has battled for many years with booze and hard drugs (in addition to chain smoking), so it is not surprising it takes it's toll.

Well! ...did we hit a nerve?

Are you Jabba-esque as well? :guffaw:

no, I think he's expressing soem frustration with how folks are judging the veracity of Fisher's comments and linking it with her change in appearance. A change that happens to an awful lot of people.
