Do you know your IQ?

130 +/-2

IHR, yes, my large bed of knowledge is let down by lack of motor skills and coordination.

Doesn't stop me doing dumb things though. And wish I hadn't smoked dope, it would be higher now.

I should do another one... but too tired.

Yes. And it's obnoxiously high.

And I'm living proof that high IQ's do not necessarily translate into financial or personal success.

Something over 130, but I have no official idea what it was. I was tested 2 or 3 times as a child for entry into gifted programs--but on every single occasion, my ADHD kicked in and I never finished the exam. What I DID complete was enough to hit the 130 mark needed for entry.

If I were to get another test, though, I'd want to make it an official one and not those Internet things. ;)

The only IQ tests I've ever taken are those silly online ones. It's ranged from the 90s to the 200s, so I don't think those tests are terribly accurate.

You don't gain any points due to age. You simply acquire more knowledge.
That 15 yearm old based on having the same IQ rating as the 40 year old,
has the same potential for learning and being as smart when they are 40 years old.

Exactly - I wasn't talking potential as much as acquired...that's why the avg old person is actually smarter than a youngster with a higher IQ. At 40 my IQ is the same on recent tests as in HS :techman: - It'll probably leave me all at once:lol:

Many of those are no good.
They need to follow a standard format and be timed.

True they are, but that child with the higher IQ has the potential to end up smarter than you ;) Not that they will, that's all based on individual.

Not with the way education is going now:(
I'm suprised what people DON'T know sometimes - I feel fortunate to have had good schools and I try to teach my son extra stuff not covered.

So true. Thankfully I was homeschooled :p

I agree with what Bill Gates has to say on it all. The US is falling so far
behind because we won't look at our future, it doesn't lie in text books and
formulas, but in learning the best ways to use progressing technologies in our education.

He made examples of the Japanese educational systems.

Yes, I was professionally tested several times as an adolescent.

I remember mine being quite high, though it's nothing I've really deemed of much importance. I don't act, sound or write as well as it would indicate I should, so for that (and other reasons) I don't really see it as a a valuable or accurate measure...

People have different strengths, talent and knowledge in many different fields... knowledge and application are more important to me. Unfortunatly I seem to have more knowledge of worlds based in fiction and apply this to sitting down a lot :wtf:

One of the other reasons ties to the bragging. There was someone I knew two points below me who would constantly brag about her number as a sign she was superior to all the common people. Didn't stop her from constantly entering bad relationships and taking her first year of medical school three times.

I have no idea about my IQ, i'd hazard a guess at the 110 - 120 range as I am sure I am above average intelligence but not up there with the heavy hitters.
