No Jurassic Park 4

Probably not what you had in mind, but I always liked this one.

I saw both 1 & 2 in the movie theater, and both times I fell asleep. The first one I remember waking up to the dinosaurs that were in the lab. With the second movie, I just remember falling asleep and being really bored (I didn't pick the movie as I went on a double date). So I'm happy to hear that they are not a 4th movie. Maybe Hollywood can try to make something new for a change.

After JP3, probably a good thing there won't be a 4. They'd lost a lot of ground with the dinos in LA bit in 2 and the pterosaurs escaping the island in 3.

I'd say they'll yank out JP 4 sooner or later. I think people will always be fascinated with dinosaurs to an extent which means there will always be money to make with these films.

I really don't think it matters very much that Crichton has passed away. Many movie or tv franchises continue despite their creators dying. Sometimes it means quality will drop, sometimes it won't mean much of a difference and sometimes things might actually develop in a positive direction (thinking Star Trek here).

Crichton was very much a part of this industry, I think, since he'd directed and scripted (I think) his fair share of movies. He knew how this business worked. And he also knew that it wasn't only him but lots of other people making their living from his creations - so having part of his legacy work in such a way is more of a positive thing, I feel.

Personally, I don't mind if they never make a JP movie again. I loved the first one back in the day. It was so impressive and awe-inspiring at the time.
Number two IMHO was just plain silly despite Spielberg's involvment. Plus, and this is not in response to some of the previous discussions in this thread, I felt Sam Neill and his character were sorely lacking. I thought they were part of what made the first film appealing on a more human level.

In that regard, I actually enjoyed parts of JP 3 (which also had the advantage of not having a female lead bent on getting herself and everyone around her killed). To an extent, I was also relieved not to have Goldblum in the mix anymore as well. I'm not a big fan of him or his work, to be honest.
Oh, and JP 3 had a Randy Newman song which is really cool :D. Still, as a whole, it wasn't a very rewarding, I think. Just too by the numbers, probably.

Jurassic Park 4 Will Find A Way...

The more I think about it the more I agree.
As I said I loved the new Indy film and it did mega box-office numbers.

I think they should give JP a rest, maybe another 5-10 years
and come back if Spielberg will do it and make another.
I don't want to see another that he isn't doing.

I read the posts, and GWR is the one that opened the can of worms to begin with by blurting out the crazy statement about Sam Neil being equatable with the devil. i think it deserved exactly what it got, honestly.
Well, Tulin:

That is the last time I help you out on your grammar homework.

Hate to get involved, but I believe it was at once Tulin before it changed to Tuln, so you can't blame him for making a small mistake like that.

I said the same thing.

When Stan Lee dies will there be those saying we shouldn't have Spiderman, X-Men, Hulk etc movies, books, comics because he is dead?
How does Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his estate feel about all those Sherlock Holmes serials and the new movie with RDJ?
Its just a silly statement that it "honors" Crichton in some way to not do more JP because he has passed away.
The list of examples could go on and on ad nauseum.

People love Dinos, JP is an established brand. There will be more JP in some form. Either JP:4 or a JP reboot its just that simple.

While the first film is very entertaining, the second is dire - the worst film Spielberg has ever made in my opinion. Joe Johnston's Jurassic Park III wasn't as good as the first film, but it was a significant step up from The Lost World.

This is a little disappointing but I'm pretty sure the last rumors to come from the script writing involved dinosaurs that used guns as part of a military experiment, so I'm glad that that movie didn't get made.
