If Nimoy does irreversibly perish in the new movie, it might be THE seminal scene in the entire film...overshadowing anything involving the new cast and retconned Enterprise and sets. Which might be a good thing if the fanbase doesn't react terribly well to the aesthetic overhaul and some of the new actors.

But is that really a good thing to have Old Spocks death overshadow the whole movie? I am not sure that is something JJ Abrams would want since he is trying to promote this new crew. I agree it would overshadow the movie and would be the thing people are talking about the most after the movie ends. The question is would that be a good thing or a bad thing in regards to a sequel?

Maybe 'Spock' is Vulcan for Tyler Durden. Near the end of the movie Kirk is sitting on a bed in a hotel room holding a phaser under his chin ready to blow his brains out, Spock says "Why would you want to blow your head off? Kirk replies "Not my head Spock, OUR head......"
