NFL Football - 2008-09 Season Discussion

I sometimes bitch about how the NFL's quest for parity has messed with the game, but a team like the Lions throws a wrench in my argument. With the way the NFL is structured, just how badly does a team have to be mismanaged for it to get that bad? No offense to Lions fans, but that organization has to be pretty messed up. Even Oakland, with their fairly overt blunders/sandbagging, doesn't look that inept.

And the Detroit Lions are breaking out the best NFL uniforms ever for the Thanksgiving game today. That's the only reason I'm watching this game, those things look so phenomenally awesome yet simple.

Too bad the Titans aren't wearing Oilers throwbacks to go with it.

there may be a plan for them to wear the oilers unis next season but not this season.

I believe that rumor has been confirmed. (I post at www.sportslogos.net as well as here.) I think they are doing a league wide thing for the AFL 50th anniversary.

I heard they may wear them against the Jets, in which case the Titans would be the Oilers and the Jets would be the old NY Titans.

I say it's time to screw tradition of give the morning thanksgiving game to someone else until the Lions learn how to play somewhat decent. I'd say make it a flex game with playoff implications or something. It actually might make NFL on Thanksgiving interesting again. This definitely was not a good year.

Yeah, we got a crapfest yesterday.

Sweet. Can the Ravens wear Colts Jerseys, and the Colts sit out the year then? Or do they have to wear Browns jerseys and the Brown go nekkid?

I think, from the way the NFL considers it, the Ravens are an expansion team, so they'd just keep a Ravens jersey. Those options would be amusing, though (although, if the Browns are going naked, I'm sure as hell NOT watching in hi-def).

So, from what I was able to gather, the Eagles did OK this week ;)

Unfortunately, a win against an NFC West team doesn't say much except that their pride was hurt so they had something to prove. But they really need to act like that every week.

Once again, flip a coin and decide which team will show up. Keep in mind that, last time, it was only a few small things leading to a close Giants victory in a big game. If things go slightly differently, the result could have been different. If the Eagles are playing well, it'll be a close game. If the Eagles team against the Bengals shows up, it'll be a disaster.

Speak for yourselves. I liked yesterday's second game.

Yeah those were 3 horid games on Thursday. I hope this weekend proves to be a little more competitive.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the Pats against Pittsburgh. Here's hoping Cassel can keep it up.

It really makes me wonder just HOW these games are selected. With the advent of the NFL network and its placement elsewhere than on basic cable, I'm betting that the qualiy won't improve anytime soon.

Re: NFL Football - Week 13 (Hail to the Redskins!)

Big game for my team this weekend...

PREDICTION: WASHINGTON WINS!!!

:techman: "Make it so."

I like seeing the Lions every Thanksgiving, and am opposed to a rotating schedule. Honor the tradition, I say: Dallas and Detroit every Turkey Day 'til Crack of Doom.

I'm a staunch Lions fan (unless they're playing the Cardinals) for one day every year. :techman:

Nope. My crystal ball has more fu than yours and the Giants clearly win. And the Magic 8-Ball says "You may rely on it." Haven't gotten around to reading the sheep's entrails yet but will get back to you.

Giants receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg Friday night. :wtf:

"Burress, 31, spent the night at a Manhattan hospital with the self-inflicted wound, according to the source. The injury was described only as non-life-threatening, and details of the accident remained sketchy."

EDIT - You beat me to the draw, Digits.
