TrekMovie.com's Trailer Breakdown.

Gepard

Vice Admiral
Admiral
TrekMovie put up a blow-by-blow analysis of the trailer, with some interesting info about some of the shots.

I'm not sure if any of the info they're providing is part of the leaked scenes being discussed elsewhere, as I avoided those spoilers, but they are claiming the Enterprise is being built in Iowa. So I guess that's settled then? ()

I'm doubting the Iowa build of the big E. I think Kirk's in San Fran because he's heading to the academy.

If the scene with him as a kid is Iowa, then the later scene is Iowa. Look in the far distance of the corvette scene and you see the scaffolds for the shipyards.

I think they're changing canon with this, and frankly, I couldn't care less!

While not definitive, the IA on this sign would at least suggest the build-site is, indeed, in Iowa.

It certainly appears that the ground-based assembly of the Enterprise takes place in Iowa.

Which helps to explain why an Iowa bar would be crawling with Starfleet personnel and aliens who call the locals "townies" and get into fist fights, doesn't it?

I doubt the E is being built in IA...

I mean, when kirk drives up, the ground is white sand...

Kirk's still a kid in the scene, the license plate on the car is an Iowa plate, and the scaffolding is in the background. It seems pretty clear that this is supposed to be Iowa, and that Kirk's driving misadventure is at the edge of a quarry of some kind.

Also, potential spoiler:

In the scenes that JJ has been showing around the world in the past few weeks, there's a scene where Kirk is at a bar, hits on Uhura, gets in a fight until Pike breaks it up and challenges Kirk to make something of his life. He's called a "townie" in the scene, and shortly afterwards rides his bike (as seen in the trailer) out to look at the Enterprise being constructed. These scenes only make sense if Kirk and the Enterprise are both in Iowa.

Yes, but the dirt in the enterprise reveal scene is different from the other scenes...

Not a given... They could both be at san fran by this point in the movie.

One of the descriptions of the scenes Abrams showed states that at the start of the bar scene there is a title card that says "Iowa".

Does Iowa have any large bodies of water with nearby urbanization like San Francisco Bay? I put this IMG in a spoiler so not to permanently stretch the page.

Help yourself to the IMG btw. ;)

That image is from a fan trailer, not the official teaser trailer...

Because, they are going to give 100% info to these people before the movie comes out...

Because the reporters are 100% correct in their reporting...

Sorry, I'm not going to buy into it until I see it in the movie itself.:techman:

It does seem rather unlikely that Kirk would stay in Iowa for any longer than he absolutely needed to, considering the movie's premise regarding his status there.

I agree it is not from the official teaser. I don't recall where I got it, thought it was from around here about the time some early stills were showing up. Could I bother you (or anyone) for a link to that fan trailer if you have it? Seeing it might refresh my memory.

There is a thread about it in trek art. Just some stills, no vid yet.
